Try this again. First response got clobbered. Seems to happen a
lot lately.

I use 55W halogens with out a problem. I only use two at a time. But, can turn on all four if I move the light switch half way between bright and dim.

Use a digital multi meter and aligator clips.
With the Engine at idle measure your voltage.
Turn on one pair and make note of any voltage drop.
Turn on the next pair and also make note of any voltage drop.
Leave them on and at idle for 5 or ten minutes. Is the voltage steady flat or dropping.

Then take it for a ride with the light son and see if the voltage level recovers.

If it doesn't continue to drop then your fine.

Ideally you would want to measure the current flow by measuring the voltage across a fixed shunt. At idle and revs.

But, that is harder than guesstimating with the voltage level. Besides most people don't have the shunt or a high current meter. And it needs to be inline.

I run a pair of 100 watt KCs in addition to the stockers on my 420/350 and its too much. I disconnected one big light and it did fine. My other 350 has a pair of 55 watt lights on the roof and it does just fine. Hope that helps,

Gary

What ever you add good light management is a good idea, if you pull up and stop for a minute or so turn them off whilst at idle then once under way turn them back on, don't set their for 5 min taxing the system...

OK, now, can I tie these into the tail light circuit. that being so close to the roof, and possible mounting spot???

I think its the same circuit.

Only for running lights not high vs low beam though.

I'd run new lines. Unfortunately all the connections are in the center console or the lights themselves.

Be sure to solder and shrink tube them well. And it should last.

that's good advice. shutting down will charge the system up in case its being taxed by the lights.

I'd like to put a set of low power side lights and a dome light for night time non driving screwing with the straps or getting in and out like crap.

Strong enough to see the ground. LOL. I recall an evening when getting out the 'wrong' side of the Pilot would have been a disaster. As it was stuck on wash out basin crossing.

I think there was a connector for removing the rear light I can tap into, solder up and seal. I also want to put an LED light under the airbox somehow so when I need to get under there to the carb and adjust, I am not stumbling around in the dark... I think with some good lights at the rear of the head rack/roof you should be able to see around you well...

There is a connector there. Actually it has two connectors in one. You can tap onto it easily without cutting. I used a male barrel like crimp connector and soldered it instead of crimping.
It carries the running light circuit and a ground.
