How about making the rear suspension arms say 1" longer, move the mount points 1" away from where they attach to the frame, what kind of suspension travel increase would we see?

Looking into the cup of the inboard Pilot CV you can see the ball contact and plunge I think you could move where the balls ride in the CV out 1" and not hurt anything? The inboard CV boot life might be shorter?

Ok measuring the rear travel with no shock installed from full droop to full bump I measure 10" suspension travel.

What are you guys finding..?

On the boot issue what about finding a longer boot that has one to two add ridges like you see on bugys that have long travle. This may be why the long travle pilot boots tend to rip easier. I use a shock that give 8" rear travle and would be interested in a longer travle if the shock mount stays the same. What if when you extend the rear out wards also move back an inch or two having axle sweep on an arc as well stretching out the over all lenght to help with high speed tiger chasing. I wonder why the long travles in front come off the tube straight than bend, is this stronger than coming off the tube in an angle. Just a thought.

Was is the angular sweep of the A-arm up and down from a level attitude where the the two pivot points are level with each other? What is it's length from the center of the pivot point on the frame to the center of the pivot point located on the hub? Given these, and by adding one inch to the pivot length then some geometry will give you the travel of the hub up and down. CAUTION: If the sweep from neutral/level position up is significant you will be losing some ground clearance.

Man I wish I could relate what I think of into words like that. The cost of a good education, Pricless.Ted you touched on a good point which I failed to figure in. Ground clearence. that's why I'am probie. Even the last trip to dunes I seen a guy with long travle front arms on his 450 bottom as the base of jump. I went and looked at the bike and noticed his long travle had stock shocks bolted up. Ya it widened it up but the frame would bottom before the shock did. I guess that means he now has less travle then stock. That means back to math class for me. I wish I could get a handle on lever ratio's.

What about making up wheel spacers for both sides, this would increase the swing arc,and make the stance wider.
