I removed the gas tank completely. This opens up a lot of space to get in there.

I have a comet clutch and its a bit larger circumference than a stock. So I had to pull it to get access to the bolts on the end of the starter. Not all the way but enough to gain access.

I remove the starter wire as well.

Then with a little persuassion it comes out.

I have done it via the carb -I remove the carb, air box, intake rubber and loosen the bolts behind the clutch just enough to get it out, usually though I do drop the tank-opps forgot -LOL.

I will tell you that I have currently found it to be easier to just pull the dam motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) though, the seat gets removed expansion chamber, the just loosen the carb from the air box intake and a couple min utes for the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) mounts and your there, try it -you may find it easier!!ALTHOUGH-if you got water colled head on there, then you got a pain in the arse for sure-forgot about as well.

I guess it is a pain in the arse then-LOL!
