hey,

ive been thinking about "re-making" the exhaust for my odyssey for a while now. i planned on just cutting off the end cone and replacing it with a longer one... ive used a two stroke exhaust design program to calculate the correct size.... but ive struck trouble... i didnt realise that the stock exhaust is baffled. has anyone out there ever cut up the stock exhaust to check it out.?
has anyone else attempted somthing like this and has any advice.?

thanks any info will be great help

cheers josh.

Yes, I cut one open in the past. It it full of baffles (sort of like you find on a conventional automotive muffler). There is sort of a divergent cone section on the stock pipe, but then when you get to the body of the pipe, the exhaust gases hit a straight face (baffle) with a tiny hole through it. Then there are a series of other baffles after this. Obviously for sound deadening, but terrible for exhaust flow. You really need to get rid of the stock pipe if you want a true 2 stroke tuned pipe.

Josh, you can see a picture of one of the internal baffles of the stock Honda Odyssey FL250 exhaust here... there are 2 of these baffles inside the stock pipe. http://www.kartpowersports.com/honda-odyssey-tuned-pipe.htm Hardly what I'd call a tuned pipe![/url]

thanks for that info...

i STILL havent got any metal yet  . but i have made templates and a carboard mock-up. im thinking i will make the end part either point up, or go to the left like wat ive seen on the pilots.
see wat you think of my design, its aimed at about 6500-7000 rpm to be the peak of the power band.

thanks, josh.

the link you sent doesnt work on my ghetto scum internet hahah crappy as connection....

heres the link... just look around the page theres free DEMO downloads for the exhaust design and cone development programs.... they allow you to make the exhaust...but you don't have all the fancy data loggers and wat not.
