My crankshaft has slack in it. I am tearing it down to change the crankshaft bearings and seals. Any advice on things to look for, or other things to do while tore down.

I am thinking just pull crankshaft out and inspect it. then replace bearings and seals. then reassemble.
What exactly do i need to look for when inspecting crankshaft?

If crankshaft is bad, how much is rebuilt vs. new??

Any advise helps............thanx Mike

Ok. Having problems right off the bat. I cannot get the flywheel to budge. Bought the tool, broke class 8.8 bolt, bought two 10.9 bolts, broke them. Tried with breaker bar and 1/2" impact. Now the flywheel tool is eating up my flywheel threads. Any suggestions on getting this thing off?

Never had one that would not just pop right off.

You removed the nut and washer from the flywheel?

You backed the center bolt off then threaded in the large nut as far as it will go, then tighten the center bolt up? Once the bot is good and tight give the head of the bolt a good smack with the hammer, one good square solid perfect hit is better than 40 half ass hits... head of the hammer hitting flat centered and square to the center bolt.

its on a pilot flywheel. tightened flywheel puller up on outside threads of flywheel. then tightened up bolt to crankshaft pretty dang tight and tapped flywheel many times while under pressure with no results. did not try hitting puller bolt dead on. fiqured hitting bolt would not do much since no room for movement with bolt tight on crankshaft and puller tight on flywheel.

could i split case on clutch side and somehow press other case half and flywheel off?

i can try a blow to the bolt. or a stronger puller bolt and a 3/4" impact?

worse case would be what?

This is a Pilot and you have the Honda puller?

Remove the puller and grease up the threads reinstall hit it with the impact still don't go hit the center bolt with the hammer whilst the bolt is tight as hell.
