I wasn't happy with the front brakes.....pmed Hoser to help solve the problem - here was direction he steered me in http://www.pilotodyssey.com/brakes-front.htm

After reading it thoroughly I proceeded to take apart the brakes....I was missing a pin and shoe spring on the left side...cleaned everything up and replaced them and checked the bearings and put it back together....The right side a spring was hanging and both adjustments were frozen. Took it apart, used some pb blaster...and smooth as could be. check the bearings Put the right side back together same as left side. Went to open the master cylinder and both screws were stripped out. Drilled out the heads, flushed the lines with fluid until all was clear. Replaced the screws and bled the brakes..... woah.......I'm grabbing a full handle now.

Sweet! Now happy with my brakes :-) :-) Thanks to Hoser --- U THE MAN!!! :-) [/url]

Good to see you got them working again, you might need to adjust them again after the first few ride trips until the shoes wear off any high spots and match the diameter/wear of the drums once you get them worn in and your getting as much contact area as your going to get they really will start stopping good !

Yes - I did have a shoe worn uneven because of the missing spring....I sanded it smooth and will continue to adjust throughout my next ride.....which will be on Monday :-)

Might be good to view this thread on adjustment.

Is this still a valid repair post for "today's" odyssey? I got a restoration ongoing and the front brake handle doesn't budge. Is the link above the best way to do a front brake overhaul?
