I decided to make a leakdown tester using the pulse/vacuum line to pressurize the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )).

The rubber boot intake for the carb measures in at 1.45". I used a 1 3/8" (1.375") expanding freeze plug for this plug.
The exhaust plug (For a DG Pipe) measures in at 1.78". I used a 1 3/4" (1.75") expanding freeze plug for this plug.

The freeze plugs can be found at any auto parts store.

Attached are pictures of my setup.

Looks very nice. Be sure to keep the pressure somewhere under 10 lbs. You will probably find a leak on the exhaust without a gasket. I made some out of rubber mats. I also made a plate w/gasket to block off the exhaust. I put my guage on the pulse tube and filler in the intake. Pics of my tester, not the prettiest but works well. Everyone makes theirs a little different. I like to see different ideas. Let us know how it works out.

Gary :-)

Thanks Gary :-)

I thought about making a setup like the one you have. I was going to use my compression tester as the test gauge by removing the check valve from it but I couldn't find a valve stem to place into the intake PVC plug. I also wondered if the compression tester's plug that fits into the spark plug hole would seal well enough for a long period test.

As far as the exhaust leaking, the PO I got my Ody from installed a DG exhaust just before he sold it to me and didn't bother to use an exhaust gasket. This is where I found my excess leak. The motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) wouldn't hold pressure at all! So after I have my cylinder bored and the top end is back on I will try again.
