I would really like to see some different ideas on what to do in the way of an aftermarket/custom FL350 exhaust.

Was wondering if some of you guys could post up some pics so I could see what kind of systems, silencers and mounting techniques are going around on the board.

Randman, I went ahead and picked up a FMF silencer to go on the DG pipe I have... very much like what you have going on in your pics.

Decided that I am going to try to chop 3" off of the silencer to get a better fit on the rear cage.

Essentially attempting to do a "shorty" exhaust.

You may want to re-think cutting the silencer up. By cutting up the silencer it will make it louder which kind of defeats the purpose if you purchased it because of the loud DG silencer. You may want to do what I haven't got around to doing yet........

I am going to take my DG pipe to a shop and change the angle of the end of the expansion chamber so it exits the pipe at a 90 degree angle. I will then be able to move the silencer to the inside of the cage without having to shorten it. Not sure which one you purchased but mine came with an additional pipe that I will be able to attach to the end of the silencer to where it will exit the frame in the triangular section like the stock pipe does.

You shortened the silencer?

It was not loud enough for you?

That was my thought.

It's probably going to be a tiny bit quieter than a DG silencer but at least now you have a spark arrestor!

He changed the effective length of the exhaust system?

I was wondering if he would need to do any jetting adjustments because of it?
Hard to tell what difference it will make. The Turbine core has a twisted baffle assembly in it and since the entrance end has been cut leading into the baffle area I would say yes.

Dred, did you shorten the entrance tube also or did you leave it the same length and just cut the outer shell of the silencer?

Nope, that's how it comes from Power Pros.

Making an effective exhaust is an art.

Some people 'think' they can do it & yes, it may work, but, not effectively enough to the greatest potential of the Engine.

Difference between torque & rev?

As far as I was lead to believe the torque is for hill riding & the rev is for racing/WOT (Wide Open Throttle) riding.

I ride in the mountains, so, I chose the torque pipe.

I collected a Yamaha Tri Moto yesterday. The second one in our family. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8780&p=78151#p78151" .".(this.href)

Yes the entrance tube had to be shortened that leads into the baffle assembly.

I was actually relieved that the baffle was its own assembly that took up appx 6" of the exit end of the pipe.

Never had to mess with it.

Got it mounted and started it up to see how she sounds. It is still a lot quieter than the DG pipe.

I do like the way the silencer exits on the Powerpros pipe setups.

Sorry I didn't get any pics until today. It's been a hectic week at work.

Not too happy with my first attempt. Going to fab another bracket (a little longer) and see if I can get the angle to match the rear cage at least.

Another issue is that I would like the pipe to exit in the little corner opening like some of you guys have done.

After looking at your pictures of your mount it just re-affirms to me the crap that DG makes. I noticed that your pipe is tucked well within the frame with your pipe cut short. My pipe sticks out at an angle. This is why I was so curious about seeing pictures of your installation.

Also note the distance between the elbow bend of the pipe in the frame between yours and mine. I have at best 1/2" of clearance between the 90 degree elbow and the frame where yours has probably 1 1/2".

Have I ever mentioned I think DG's quality control sucks!
