Guys I was wondering if the bearings can be removed and replaced using standard tools or do I need a press or something special. Has anyone done a write up on this will pics?

Thanks Hyde

I saw those and I bought your spacers....I just need to know if a press is necessary to do the job or can it be done without one. If anyone had posted a how to on the removal of the bearings start to finish. Ive learned alot from this site and do appreciate all of everyone's help.

You can rework them with out a press. A large puller, inside bearing puller and bering driver kit can do the job if you carfull. IF you do not feel comfortable remove them and take them to a Honda shop to do the work. I have preformed this many time with no issues and no cave man tool aka: BFH ect is used. IF you want to get new tools by all means do it.

Here is some sample pics of a back yard hacker method

Very nice work adnoh

Most all the ones that I have done where by hand tools
just need to take your time

The biggest problem that I have seen is removing the long low arm bolt
most of the time it's rusted there good

Thanks speed, if things are rusted up there for sure a lot harder. Hyde here's some more. These will be getting the bearing out with no seal damage. So get a cold one while I load them up. My connection is a little slow.

Gota like getting new tools it's like christmas all year long. The advantage of having them is they fit in a small tool box with spare parts and the work can be done at camp or help a fellow pilot driver out that has none. If you replace yours bag the old one for trail spares.

some install vids. Be sure to get them started in stright as not to gouge the knuckle or speed will see them next for fixing. After you remove them clean and inspect for any damage to the knuckle surfaces. If the surfaces are not good the bearing outer race may fracture and fail. I have seen where some one has tried to beat them in and gouge the knuckle and cause ridges and leave behind metal shaving inside. The ridges will need to be smothed out before new bearing is installed. If you have a big vise you can also get them started by using blocks of wood and a little paitences. Another tip would be a heat gun to heat of the knuckle then install.

Be sure to look over "H" post on grease sert since there apart.

Just take you time and it should be like buttter last and most important have fun hacking and share the pics. Be sure to share any thought or tips for the next guy doing a search.

Yes sir, I tried there and O Reilly's. No luck I will see if I can buy one from offline somewhere. The bearings and seals should come in on Tuesday but I will have already left for offshore and so it will have to wait for a couple weeks till i get back in.
