Most those type filters rely on a steady air flow to work like found on a tractor where they throttle up the Engine wide open and run it at that RPM all day long, at lower RPM (air flow) the filter does not work as well.

Without actually testing one on a Pilot or Odyssey under actual operating conditions I would say your better off with a regular filter as the pre filter they proven to work from idle to WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

Donaldson makes really good products.

Seems like there are simpler, proven solutions already on the market for an FL350R or FL400R pre-filter application.

Donaldson makes some nice stuff, but it's usually friggin' expensive, too. They get in early on with an OEM platform, and then the OEM will 'require' the OEM filter for replacement. Hence, a lot of companies try to work-around their designs to offer a lower cost solution. If you own a 2003+ 5.9L Powerstroke your air filter is over $100, and then thanks to Parker-Racor, your fuel & lube filter change will cost you over $100. IP gets a premium price.
