i got this Engine year back, i just go round to it now ...stripped the Engine no issues i could see, looked like it had been built right so i replaced crank bearings and seals the crank was like new so i didn't bother stripping it....had the Engine cases and cylinder cleaned and the cylinder bored to .25 ....i noticed when it stripped it the cylinder bridge had been completely cut out??? never seen this done on a pilot cylinder before?? its a CW Racing cylinder i don't know much about them, can't find a web-site??? anyone heard of them and anyone seen the bridge cut out before??

Search PilotOdyssey.com and the web for CW Racing. another number for Chris (CW) and it is (408) 930-1000.
https://www.google.com/search?q=style+g ... 24&bih=583

He was always doing all kinds of strange porting this looks like he was trying to copy the intake port openings to be like the FL350 or Hondas older style of Engine porting.

Who knows try to contact him and ask, maybe the intake bridge of the cylinder cracked so to save the cylinder he cut them out.

I would not just throw a piston for a Pilot into this cylinder and run it, this cylinder might require piston from another application where the ring end gaps are relocated so the end gaps don't/wont snag in the port openings and break the rings, scar the cylinder wall trash the bottom end.

This Engine might require a special built custom order piston that CW had wiseco had custom made to his specifications.

Your pictures are a little fuzzy so I cant see where the ring end gaps are to see if they are in the factory location I don't see any nasty skid marks on the piston look at the rings real close with a magnifying glass look for missing plating on the rings chips nicks unusual wear etc. that might indicate the rings were catching in the cylinder because the two bridges were removed.

Would still make a effort to talk to CW about this setup, last I heard keep calling leaving a message and a number he can call you back, he works a full time job then does this on the side.

From what I can see it looks like a Pilot piston.

The rings on the piston don't go down that far on the intake side of the cylinder for there to be a snag issue. If you install the piston and watch the rotation through the intake you will see the ring ends will ride on the cylinder wall between the transfers and the center intake port

I know CW been around a while He did one of the first mods to my wifes pilot. We sent three heads to milled and recut. That was back in 1990. He also sent us power block clutches with them and we thought we were bad. He alwasy was pleasent and did us right. I wish I would have gotten on of his LT kit back then they were pretty cheap for what they were. My buddy ran an LRD pipe I could never get around him when the wife let me take her pilot for a spin. So I got my own and went to work. I finallly pasted him but he still is a better drive the the times in equal cars proved it. I still take crap over it. He said I drive like a girl. He's just that good and a farmer to boot. Tractors to pilots guy has skill. I still have to buy the cold ones and he wont let me forget it.
