Hey guys I decided to try and rehab 2 faded pilot wrist restraits i had laying in a box. They are in great shape just faded to hell. So went to walmart and found some tulip fabric dye and followed the directions but I boiled the water and let it simmer for an hour. Next Im gonna try red on an odyssey seatbelt. This is for everyone who wants a new looking belt but wants to save money. Or for the resto guy who wants everything exact stock.

that dye works on some plastic as well. I put my rubber air guard parts in some red and it brought some color back. not perfect but a little better

Looks nice hopefully the first time you use them you don't end up with red and blue racing stripes on you lol

They wont after boiling in the dye you rince the belts with cold water then wash with soap and warm water then let hang dry without heat.

Cool
What brand of dye did you use, I found a Pilot wrist straps today that look about as faded as the ones in your picture, I probably have 3 of them that needs done might be a good time to do them.

Brand was tulip. Foind it in the sewing/craft area at wally world. I coukdnt believe how good the wrist restraints turned out. They are a little darker the the original but look and feel new again.

Wow wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of all of my faded safety gear. Hoser they have RIT(brand) dye at Home Hardware. Basically the same stuff. Would work great for this. It's in the cleaning section by laundry detergent. Aisle 9. 3/4 of the way down on the left, head height if they havn't moved it. Full selection of colors.

Tulip and Rit are two different brands. Rit is in the laundry section and tulip in the craft stuff.

What colors of Tulip brand did you use for the blue and the red? I think they have different shades of colors right?

I've used Rit before to change the color on seat belts with decent results. :-)

Color on packets said Red. And the other said Blue. No special crazy name on them. don't forget the salt and make sure the belts are clean before dying.
