Yeah I'm looking for a 79mm kit so I don't have to jump up to the 80mm yet. It needs to be bored due to the rust pits on the lowest skirt of the cylinder. I think 1 size up will do the trick

Got some work done on the buggy today. I started on the a-arm conversion. I'm using trx450 arms. It looks like they will work pretty well. The only concern I have is the rod mount on the spindel but that will be acessed later. But I got the right side all tacked up.

hydraulic JD2.
Its that way to allow for the bumpsteer kit.
Also it allows you to retain all mounts for the fenders also the shocks will fit without cutting the fenders. hopfully. Plus more ground clearence and travel.

Will you be installing gussets on the lower arm by chance?I also are curious as to why the new subframe tube was installed so low-will the 350 sit too high on the front end? Also, steering geometry is going to need changing right as the stock system isnt going to work with the lowering of the arms-have you a plan for that?Lengthening of the existing shaft?Bump steer will work on this ?

Everthing will be gusseted up. A bumpsteer system will be built as well. It will sit a few inches higher then the rear but that's all. It will all come together hopefully.

Got the otherside done this weekend. Both side are now fully welded up and ready for shocks and the bumpsteer. First I need to get both spindles from a pilot (will save hours of fab time) and a set of shocks. its now 59 inches wide and I have 13.5 iches of front ground clearence. I'll post pics tomarrow.

Very nice work, keep posting progress, I am very interested. I really just do not like my A-arm mounting(flat steel with square tubing welded on). My a-arms are pretty short(250X), and would prefer something wider.

I am also having problems with tie rod linkage movement while the suspension moves. I may have to go with the lower cage hoop. I did remove my stock J arm mounting stubs, 2 were bent backwards anyway(no I didn't do it, lol). These pics are from a couple years back but this project has been on the back burner way too long, just need some motivation. Sorry, looks like I am hijacking your thread. LOL

Gary :-)

Update: I purchased a set of suzuki ltr450 quad shocks and arms off ebay for $21.50. Last weekend I got the shocks mounted up. They work flawlessly. Today i decided to modify the stock fl350 spindles since pilot ones are too much to purchase right now due to fact I have to put money into my pilot to fix it. I was able to finish the left one today and I'll work on the other tomarrow. I cant wait to get these spindles done so I can get the steering done. After that its all down hill. Paint and assembly.

Really nice work, I just picked up a 400ex front end to use on my sled machine. Hoping to start soon. post all the info you can, I just may use your work as a template. How did you determine the exact position to mount the top of the shock? Any more pics / details on your bump steer kit and how it works? Is your main reason for using the 350 spindles vs. the ones for the arms for the added strength?

I bolted the shock to the lower a-arm, put the jack under the frame and played with the max droop of the arms and eyeballed a nice look with 2" lower ride hieght. As long as the arms have full motion you can mount the shock to your liking. With how they are mounted now I wont have any issues later if I want to put trx450 Long travel arms on with Lt shocks. The shock mount is really close to a stock trx. It really helps to be able to measure the machine you get the arms off of (A honda dealer is 5 minutes from me)

Well over the last few weeks I've got tons of stuff done on this thing. Its fully painted and a full roller now, foot tub is refurbished and the brakelines ran. I'll be running the electricle this weekend and searching for a good upholstry shop to redo the stock seat. I also will be looking for a aluminum welder/fabricator to box in my cylinder to make it watercooled. So heres the pics so far. Enjoy...............................

Shoubadaba -

I love the thinking out side of the box. I have all of the stock front end parts from my Raptor 700 and now I know why I have been storing them for the past 3 years.

I am in Riverside, I would love to come by and copy oh I mean take a look at your work in person some time.

John
