Hello Everyone,

Back in 2018 I decided I wanted to try and build a brand new Engine, I say crazy nutso because I did one of those things that I probably should not have.
All I can say is I enjoyed the heck out of putting a 99% all new Engine together. I assembled this in the beginning of December 2018, I have only assembled the bottom end, still have some things to do with the brand new Paul Turner (Duncan Racing) cylinder and head before final assembly, the cylinder was ported by Paul Turner back in 1994 and is brand new. It has all been sitting in my work room on the counter since December 2018.

Here are some pictures of what it takes in parts to put one together + pictures of the step by step assembly. I hope you enjoy.

Lots more pics. to come.

Why do you think you shouldn't have done it? I mean who doesn't want a brand new Engine?

Oh my eye candy that is just cool as heck. Lucky Man. Nuts? no way put that in a trailer queen chassis and put it on display in your living room. Set in it and watch football and have Wife bring snacks and favorite cold ones. On second thought you would not want to get it dirty.Nice job.

Man I hate to ask just would like to know. What is the thrust (between crank and case)number for clutch side and mag side. Can you softly measure it with a set of feller gauges and let me know. Pretty please.

Make a port map of that cylinder and post plenty of pics.

that's nice but for what it must have cost, you probably could have bought a nice running pilot

Not every last one is new but as close as I could get, these are the parts I had to use that were not new but they were mint used, starter, both starter gears, pinion gear, balance drive gear and flywheel. I found a new flywheel but $1200.00 was just to much and it was flywheel only no stator combo.

The cost of all the discontinued and rare parts was huge, I would tell you what I have in this but then you would not think I am nuts, you would know it. Haha, for sure you would know it and I felt like I got good prices on things until I added it all up.

Yes Sir, you can see where all those parts were laid out, in my living room. My wife is the best.
I have thought about just putting it on the shelf and looking at it, there are other engines out there to be ran, this one can stay new as far as I am concerned. I will admit that I have thought about putting it in a chassis just to see what it will do, I have a new set of CR250 reeds, a Danifold that I got from him before Lee started making them. I have 3 domes for the head (one is on loan and has to be returned once I figure out which one I am going to use), 49, 50 and a 51cc, I still need to check squish, ring end gap, I have a new take off exhaust manifold that I need to match to the cylinder, the cylinder is a PT high rev cylinder. I have a second Paul Turner pipe that I could run on it as well but I sure do like it being all new and pretty.

I sure will but it could be a little while, I have my roof being completely redone and one of the guys put his foot through the ceiling in my work room so I have everything moved out until they get it fixed.

Well you can regret what you paid for the parts, but since you spent the money already, you might as well enjoy it. :-)

This is absolutely insane. I spent $1500 on a full bottom to top rebuild so I can just imagine this must have been north of $4000. For what though? I don’t see the value except for show. My rebuild was over 2 years ago and still running very strong. Only had stator side seal replaced recently. No compression changes, still at 81.5mm, has not blown, pulls wheelies, perfect compression. For the money you could have rebuilt an old Engine 2-3 times whereas this Engine simply won’t honestly last much more than a perfect full rebuild. In 2 years +/- you’ll wish you hadn’t.

Also on stock bore, even ported - not to say it’ll be slow but there are so many cool big bore options out to 90mm... Not to mention Rotax. I actually have a spare stock bore Pilot complete Engine I took and am saving; but it was a lot slower than my 81.5 bore.

I guess since you’ve horded parts it’s worth the excessive build, but that $4000 Engine part lot could have actually helped rebuild half a dozen motors.

Exactly.

Nothing in this Engine was hoarded, all of it was tracked down and payed for in 2018, with my money, so I guess since it is my money and my parts I can do what ever I like with it.

As much as I have tried to help you with your LT, I am surprised at your negative remarks. Kind of Sucks.

I did this because I wanted to, I put it up to share something with my friends that I have never seen.
