Well, the latest project I've been tooling around with is getting rid of the pesky left-hand e-brake handle, cable, and easy-to-lose but hard-to-find caliper hardware. I don't have a single functioning e-brake on any of my (4) FL350 buggies..

Everything will be professional-grade stainless steel-braided lines rated 3000psi+. The line-lock brake is very popular in the sandrail / buggy world.

The kit would include...
> two steel-braided lines to replace the hard long-dong line
> line-lock brake located on right or left hand side of frame (you squeeze the brake handle, pull the line-lock knob, and you've got a rear e-brake)
> zip-ties for lines
> brake fittings
> some type of mount for the line-lock

You'd simply disconnect the e-brake cable from your caliper, and either remove or zip-tie the little caliper arm. Up to you if you want to remove the stock e-brake handle assembly & cable.

The little caliper arms are a pain to adjust, and impossible to find if you lose one. A replacement e-brake cable is $42. Stock hard lines are 25+ yrs old. Why rebuild a master-cyl and then keep the old 4-foot of cruddy lines?

Target price for PO.com members is $115 shipped for a kit with a true push-button line lock. Or $100 shipped for a kit with simple locking ball valve. I may do a special "total brake line overhaul" kit price for the complete front & rear braided line kit + line-lock. Haven't got that far yet.

Stay tuned...

line locks typically release as soon as you let go of the button, extremely popular in drag racing. push the button, press the brake the harder the better cause it will hold the pressure, and when light goes green just let go of the button.

also is this a manual line lock as the ones i know of are electric

there might be different kinds of line locks, but that is the one i know of

I would love to see this work but...... They are generally used with a foot pedal setup. I don't know if you can generate adequate pressure with an Ody's brake handles.

As far as the e brake cable lever on the caliper, I would remove the lever and then use a ebrake block off plate like those used in the quad circle

Another thing I have seen tried is to simply place a valve in line that can be closed to retain pressure on the brake system.

All the line lock does is hold the pressure you generate with your brake system, so if your hand lever is pressed and its holding the Odyssey fine then it will work just fine, my line lock is a velcro strap that holds the lever for me :-)

Hell, right now I wish I had enough line pressure to stop my buggy in under 50'! lol
