Hello went to a company that I do work for

They make steel rule dies there

They built me a die for the fl350 cylinder base gasket

here are some pic's

the part folds in because of the soft aluminum

then I have to flatten it back out in a 50 ton press

pretty neat stuff

thanks for looking

I can cut the parts so they don't do this but it is hard on the die and they flatten back out just fine

Sure is different from the days when I used to work for a gasket manufacturer. We didn't have the luxury of laser cutting the dies. That one looks pretty sweet!

Just curious, can you take the punch pins out of the die and make them without the vent holes? This way you would not have to plug the vent on the stator side to keep the oil out of the starter. If the gasket was made with a hard enough material, you could use a small screw and nut with some locktite to plug the hole so the oil could not pass through to the stator side.

If they do come up for sale, let us know, I would be interested in a couple.
