Here are some more pictures, I suppose you could install a o ring but I don't think it will seal, also depending on the thickness of the o ring it might be putting a constant force against the ring on the end of the axle, if the axle and stub shaft were new you might get a seal or o ring to work but once you get a little wear in the axle splines then you get enough movement where I think it would affect the seals integrity, one would have to try it to see if and how well it will work, again I think the sealing will be dependent on the amount of wear and movement of the stub shaft in the final shaft in the trans, I also think no matter how well you think you have it sealed that you need to take it apart and install fresh grease on the splines I went 3-4 years since I did mine last, this time they were long over due the grease was black and getting hard there also was dirt mixed in with it. I think most of the wear is caused by rust than anything else, fresh grease will prevent the rust, mine was just starting to show signs of rust, I think if I pull the stub shafts out of the final shaft in the trans every 2 years, clean and re grease I will be ok, whether or not the silicone I applied will help the seal or not I wont know until I pull it apart, I cant see where it would hurt anything.

Brake disc side, you can see where the silicone has a better chance of sealing against the nut in later photos

Silicone is right against the nut, should seal good as long as the movement is not that bad.

I think I got too much grease (red stuff) on this side, more than I wanted I think it will not allow the silicone seal well on this side. If you guys want measurements let me know I can take them then post if you want to work on a seal. And their you have it now its Hoserized!
