Post subject:  Drakart clutch cover.
The pictures are worth a thousand words but just in case,

My clutch kept filling up with sand and actually "sand blasted" most of the numbers off of my Ski-Doo clutch from there not being a cover of any kind so I decided to make something. I bought a 1/2 sheet of 1/8" aluminum and got to some thinking. It allows to change the belt and the adjustable ramps on the TRA clutch but seems to keep 90% of the sand off the clutch. Untill one day I get off my ass and build a completely sealed belt drive similar to what the quads have, this one will do fine.
Any Drakart owners that want details just let me know.

How about a filler piece on the bottom my mid skid on my Pilot keeps all kinds of sand off the clutch .

Hey Litespeed, don't forget to close off the side panel opening. It is a direct path to the front/open end of the drive clutch.

I closed off mine, noticed a huge difference in the belt life.

Not so sure about fully enclosing the clutches and drive belt like the Polaris. Alain used to have a similar setup, but the belts didn't last due to too much heat.

All you need is a shield which covers the front, open end, then slightly over the top of the clutch and slightly over the side. Hope that's clear as I don't have a pic to show you what I mean....

I was going to do something like this to the twins.

I found a couple of large cooking pots, I had one set up to go on, but it got bent on the way to Killpecker, so it never got used.

I didn't want to take too much of the airflow away from the clutch completely so that is why I left the front vent open. Sand is very minimal at the clutch now but it is there none the less.

My idea for a belt cover/enclosure will be force fed filtered air via a parker pumper or something similar to keep the belt cool and clean to help them last. I have seen Grizzley's with as much as 6,000miles on them before changing a belt and the belt didn't actually need to be changed out.

Just a thought.

I don't know if I really need to go to this extent or if I ever will since I seem to get about 3 to 4 full weeks of ride time out of my belts now. Which if you ever follow me is prolly a couple thousand miles! :-)
