Well I joined some guys for the ride on Sunday at Kaska and found out my clutch is basically crap.. I looked into replacing it but found...94c drive clutch..102c drive clutch..and the 790 driven stock clutch...Well I want to upgrade but don't know what to buy ...also is there a belt out there better than the next ? Also found out the rear swingarm ball joints or hem joints arent holding up , anyone know where I could get new joints ? I'll probably replace as many as possible hopefully all of them.... I guess it would help if I said I have and 85 odyssey fl350......
Any response would be greatly appreciated Thanks........DOUG>>>>>

Hi Doug,

This is my 2 cents worth!

The 102C-----good--- is fully adjustable to take full advantage of every scrap of HP for a particular riding style and Engine characteristics(power bands)
bad----expensive, you need an assortment of cam arms and springs, gets dirty easily without a dust shield which are hard to find now

The 94C-------good----1/2 price of 102C, simple design, built in dust cover, good on stock or built up engines
bad-----non-adjustable

The HRD2------good-----3/4 price of 102C,simple design, adjustable, good for stock or built engines
------bad------questionable balance issues(maybe, streak of lower bearing failures)

After that being said, I run 2 350 odysseys with 102Cs and one with a stock salisbury. My buddy runs a HRD2 and a stock on his machines. We are both very happy with what we have. The key, in my opinion again, is regular lube and mantainance. None like mud, water, and dirt left in them.
I have never owned a 94C, but I am planning on putting one my stock machine later. Everyone that has posted about thier 94Cs has really liked them. So, its in your court.

Is your machine built up yet?

Gary

well doug (gary aka nukem ) has spelled it out pretty well on the availability of clutch's for the fl350.For simplicity, out of the box ready to go good performance up to about 70hp the Comet 94c cant be beat,w/proper maintenance it is a good solid clutch.

Unless you are going racing- the 102c and power bloc hrd2 clutches would be the ones to consider and require much more attention and cleaning than any others.

You may also want to consider the driven clutch if yours is old and stock.Comet did at one time offer a combo set with the 94c and driven package w/comet belt for a real decent price but as of late i am not sure the package is still available from comet. A quick call to Sara at Triple E Enterprises would cure the info on this question.
Triple E 1-800-763-3762
ask Sara also to send you a catalouge and she will gladly send one out for you.
Also do me a favor and post on the availability of the Comet 94c combo kit and #/price associated with the kit now.
Several guys in the comunity offer or stock the Comet clutches including sledparts guy on ebay but do not offer the kit, some say it is not available any longer.A call to EEE and Sara will confirm one way or another.

No problem on the manual, allways willing to help :-)

odysseysalvage.com ,EEE,Sledpartsguy on ebay(excellent seller and extremely quick shipping)Odyknuck (board member)and a couple other board members i believe can get them (clutches) but make the call to Sara at Triple E and see what she has to say on the combo kit ! or i will later today.By far probably the most reasonable price will be had by sledpartsguy on ebay and garuanteed to have it in 2 or 3 days or less !! (w/credit card ) But he does not list the combo kit last i looked in his ebay store. He is located in wisconsin i believe and has them in stock for the proper application.

Comet can also be contacted for the clutches but would more than likely be very slow.

The hiems can or should be available from honda (hillside, service or local) or EEE or odysseysalvage.Hillside honda has the POOA good guy discount that you will have to ask for and if you call them make sure you do ask about it.
The front j-arm ball joints are not available and will have to be replace with another set of jarms, which can be found from other pooa members or odysseysalvage & EEE.

Sledpartsguy on ebay also has in stock the UNI air filter setup for the fl350 and should be a serious consideration for the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) (wether you do the dual intake or not).

Make sure the ball joints are tight in the j-arms before you consider them bad, they could just be loose ?A thin wrench can get under the boot ,see if they can be tightened down.

Remeber also the fuel mix is now 32:1 with a quality oil,NOT 20 :1 like the manual will tell you.
Honda,yamalube2r,golden spectro,amsoil etc. good oil !

Cool, whilst your waiting on the drive this would be a good time to take apart the
driven and inspect it..

That stinks ,they had a good package deal at one time for the fl350 w/94c and driven- belt included.wonder why they stopped it ? maybe overstock and wanted to bring stock #'s down?
hard to say i suppose.

When you install the comet drive clutch use the medium grade threadlock with the bolt that comes with the comet clutch. The stock honda bolt will not work with the comet clutch.
