I am trying to make up some inner Drakart CV's, i did try to buy some but i am not having much luck.

So now i am looking to make my own, what i have discovered so far is that the Audi 100 Cv's with 25 inner splines are not what Alain used for the inners. When i turned them down to accept the flange they are getting to thin between the inside ball area and the outside section that the flange welds to and the seal area of the CV is longer than what Alain used, 35mm as opposed to 13mm on the original Drakart part.

The Audi 100 CV's are good for the outer CV's though.

Volvo s70 CV's are much closer, they are 25 spline, they have a taper on the outboard side but i don't think that will matter.

File comment: Volvo CV with the ABS gear removed, i turned about 0.30" off and the flange drops straight on. I have yet to cut the axle shaft off but you can see it is much closer to the original Drakart.

Thanks Dave,yes all good info.
Have you tried SAAB 9000,93' model? They are what my CV shop matched up with the exact splines.
Maybe the housings are better suited?

Hi Baz,

Thanks for the tip re the saab CV's, i will get a hold of one and have a look. I took the internals out of the Volvo CV, cage and balls and they fit straight into the Audi CV. I don't recommend doing that but it was an interesting experiment and they fit perfectly.

Cheers

HI Baz,

LOL, love that, yes i am playing with my balls again, i have steel balls you know.

The photos will be much appreciated, i guess the Saab joint is a 25 spline inner.

I have found that Audi made a Audi 100 with 2.2 ltr Engine from 1983 to 3/1991 with the 25 inner splines, the seal area is 60mm all the others are 56.5mm and with the captive C clip. I am very interested to track one of these joints down.

By the way some Volkswagen joints interchange with the Audi ones. Seems that there are lots of CV joints that are a straight swap with the outer Drakart ones.

Cheers
