Went for my CT scan yesterday. Will be two more weeks before I can see the surgeon guy and get the low down. Will post results here then and the CT photos of my spine. Hope it's all gona be good. I feel good. I do notice that if I try to bend over without my brace on I can feel a pressure point in my back where the break was. It's not real painful or anything but I can feel it. It's been 3 months with the body brace on now so I do take it off for a while even though I didn't get the ok yet. He told me at the time it would be 3 months.

Glad to hear you are at least feeling better. At least after the cat scan they didn't say "oh $hit". That's always a positive. I hope all goes well for ya.

We just got back from my visit to the back specialist. We discussed my latest CT scan.
I told him I want to go back to work. He said if I feel that good then I don't need physio, work will be the physio. He said if it hurts don't do it. Also told me that in 6 months I can oddy again -- hurrrray!! He said eventually the three vertebra may fuse. There is intrusion into my spinal cannel (the bit you see) but it is very slight and my spinal cannel is quite wide so no problem. I do feel good but if I bend forward and try to touch my toes it isn't happening. Close but not quite.

I'm so glad for you. To have the ok to ride is great and a time frame of 6 months don't seem so long considering you can still walk.
Must be a good day to be you.

Thx for all the kind words folks.
Status of the spare oddy --- it has been on hold because I kind of lost interest because I thought my riding days were over with the broken spine. I haven't done a FN thing on it yet since it has been sandblasted. I was waiting for my doctor. So yes it has been great news for me so I will get on it soon and will probably order a stainless brake line kit from D$ (I think he is selling them) in the new year.

LOL Yeah I think some of my brain cells look like that too.
I was just looking at a selfie I took in the hospital. I was not smiling at all and I remember being really down. It is amazing how fast your mind will slip and you get to feeling sorry for yourself. It was hard for me because I actually thought it might be all over for me. The hospital was a hundred miles from where I live and I told my family that I didn't want any visitors. Funny now but it wasn't at the time.

Just started stripping down the death machine for the good parts.
Man nothing surprises me anymore about this thing. When taking the rear suspension apart for the good bits the shock just fell apart in my hand. The back end of the shock rod got pulled right off in the crash, rear swing arm is bent and the rod end is bent at a 45' angle.

Frame has a 2" twist in it, top rear shock mount bent up 1/4", top cage junk, rear swing arm toast, busted steering rod, bent rear suspension tie rod, shifter got hit and cracked cable slot, also some hard points for down tubes are slightly bent.
Will try to straighten the frame at work, some time this summer.
Will do a rebuild next winter.

Found a couple of pics that I didn't post.
They show the cuts and bruises on my shoulder from the seat belts.
Please note that these are not the stock belts but after market 3" racing belts. In other words they were not junk belts. There is one more pic but I don't want to post it, shows the two cuts from the belts on my hip. but it also shows some privates. I will pass on that.

Can you show pics of the belts? Also did they have any padding/shoulder neck collars etc?
Just wondering why they still marked/damaged you such?
Good to see your on the mend...that coulda been waay worse as I'm sure you know.

It's strange how cards are dealt out...some can have horrific high speed prrangs like Nukem's family had recently.
His poor wife and daughter copt it the worst...but then big Gaz comes outa it with a sore finger? WTF!

You also see youtube vids of bad prangs, people gettin' tossed all over the joint...meh! a few scratches(Bull) :-)
Then someone like Superman-Reeves-falls off a damn horse, lands the wrong way, becomes a quad?
Life is like Lotto?

Yup I agree, life is a crap shoot.
Had some very high speed offs in the race car, over 135mph and nothing. Then I crash my stupid oddy at about 55mph and break my back. WTF ??.
Yeah you need to get lucky in a crash. It's all about angles and scrubbing off speed before impact. If you get lucky and have some reaction time you can make a difference but with no warning your in trouble.
The pic below shows the belts with the new seat cover.
I had no padding or neck collar. In my opinion a neck collar would have done nothing for me, but the padding would have helped I bet. In the pic I didn't want to post there are two cuts on my hip. One on the hip bone area and one in the groin area from the lap belt.

I just got a neck collar and love it. Won't ride without it now. Might of saved your head from from flopping around like a bobble head doll, and possibly from hitting your head on roll cage. With my seat I sit higher than the stock seat. And have hit my head lots on the roll bar hurts like hell. Since I go the neck collar. Haven't hit a roll bar yet. Just food for thought for you

Actually in the crash my head hit the ground.
There are a few reasons for this. 1) the top cage crushed a bit 2) the angle of the impact 3) A Honda boo boo in my opinion -- the seat belts are level with my shoulders. I am a small man 5'5" tall 130lbs and with those seat belts level with my shoulders they do not hold me down in the seat. Seat belts should be a few inches below your shoulders to hold you into the seat. I think they would be ok for a six footer but for a small person, not so good.

When I was racing at Northam Speedway in ex Neil's ATVRLT500Pilot,it came with the Teamtech wide racing belts, and padded sternum strap.
I absolutely loved it.Took a bit to get used to and adjusted,BUT you could feel the difference from std over the shoulder only belts.
Once adjusted,TRYING to move the body forward and other directions felt really secure, none of that split feeling of only shoulder types.
In the Pilot pic,you can see one half of the sternum pad/belt flipped over.I highly recomend them.

Those belts look awesome.
I think they would be the answer for a small guy. I do not have broad shoulders and one time we had to move the mounting points in our race car during a new build. I often thought about making some kind of strap with Velcro to hold the belts closer together. Your belts are the answer. You would still have to mount the top straps below your shoulders a bit or they wouldn't hold you down.
