Goddamn that looks like some nice riding country too.
Glad I don't live there because I would be fixing the oddys hourly. That looks like real high speed territory to me and my brother :-) .

It good riding that's for sure @ the 4.27min mark there is a small wallaby, missed it by that much

We rode that track a few more times and got a little faster. It was about 6 kms that way the crow fly's
actual track distance is about 8.5km

love it, Oh the trees get pretty close.

Great vid Wyeeoddy. Looks like some real nice trails there... Really inspires me to get out for a ride!

Have you ever run into any overheat problems with your 350?

This is the main place I ride http://www.biketerritory.com.au/page20802/Home.aspx

No problem with over heating as I do 80% of my riding in winter due to my work, temp ranges
from 15 to 25Deg. It can get a little fresh but love it.

I do also run a small fan above the head which is switchable when it the tighter stuff and summer
But I have never had a over heating problem. Plus I don't ring its neck in summer If I get to ride
it can hit 35 to 40 deg. Fan is due for a update as it doesn't like getting washed

Also my Sponsor is on a tight buggy budget. ""Oh"" yeah that Me !!

here is another video link you might like.

That looks like great fun, not sure if it is possible to go much faster on those tracks, and survive though!

Do you see much in the way of wildlife up there Adrian?

Cheers

Hi Oddozzie

Wildlife.

Yes wallaby's, big roos, pigs, goats and wombats now and then, I have see a emu
The Owner runs cattle and sheep. If it goes MOOOO or BARRRRR don't hit it, anything else is fair game.

Time for Baz or randman to chime in SHEEEEEEEEP

The very first time I went there I chased a 7 foot roo along one of the tracks for a good 300m before it took a hard left and
it increased the pucker factor X 10.

As you know the problem in the bush is the wallaby's and some of the Big pig (boars) they just appear.

Just adds to the Fun

That riding place looks great and they have accommodation there too. That would make for a great weekend. Unfortunately when I want to go for a ride I have to go to our family holiday house (east Gippsland) and it's about a 3 hour drive plus, when I do get up there most of the time is spent slashing grass on the tractor - not that I mean that as a complaint, that is fun too in it's own way.

Oh that makes sense. I'm still yet to take either of my FL350's on anymore than a 10 minute ride really but if it's a warm day I'll just take another machine.

Out of interest, how does the TRX400ex compare in it's take off to the FL350. Are they similar at all?

Never really had a drag off the mark But the oddy is quick off the mark
but the TRX will nail me in a straight line.

You got Acres it so you need a track my boy.

""Build it and they will come""

can be there in 9 hours

The guy with the TRX comes from Melbourne and does the trip in 12 hours
and loves it

The terrain reminds me a little of the transition here in Nevada from high desert to high elevation pine tree areas........

Only one big difference........

Not many domestic sheep! LOL :-)

Sorry although not a witty one I did manage a sheep comment!

We do get the bighorn sheep and wild horses out here though.

wyeeoddy: Noticed yours is air cooled, what kind of fuel do you run ??
Terminal velocity: Is yours air cooled ?? What kind of fuel do you run ??

It sounds like heat is an issue for you guys. Ever thought about a water cooling the way I did it ??
I also run avgas and that dropped the temp a lot.

Just got a chance to watch that last you tube vid.
Noticed that there is a lot of green around so maybe that's why it didn't seem so dusty.
Up here where we ride if it's summer the dust hangs for a real long time and its thick like a blanket.
In the summer I ride with a dust mask under the helmet.
Looks like an awesome place to ride but if anything jumps out at ya the guy on the quad is gona get wounded real bad and if the guy on the oddy stuffs it then there is gona be a lot of work ahead of you.
Doesn't seem like there is any place to stuff it without doing real damage.

I have never had a Heat problem. Even thought it is said the oddys have a problem.
I did change from a straight finned to the Y finned head for better cooling
but after a chat with Baz I might go back to the Straight but that's another story.
some of the runs I do can range from 10 to 45min 1/2 to 3/4 throttle
Full throttle 1 to 4 min Max.

I have run it hard in 38deg temps and it was OK I was on bush tracks mostly open and flowing
and a little slow tight stuff. NOT on sand that a different work the oddy hard.

I never have had that Hot so it feels and hot smells and Burning
and the ting ting noise

I run 98 and 100 if I can get without ethanol I try for the 98

run @ 32:1 motul oil 800 625ML TO 20L Caltex or BP FRESH FUEL

I was looking at water cooling the top end and still might do that is on the wish
list. same as A arm front end Hell why stop there a Pilot will solve all my
upgrade needs.

If yours is running hot and you need to use Avgas to bring the temp down
there is still a problem.

Well I think that answers it for me. You guys seem to have higher octane gas than we do.
In order for us to get 100 we need to run 100LL avgas.
Regular fuel here is 89 and the premium is about 92 - 93.
Nothing but water running out of my truck exhaust, fn gas company moron scum bags.
A barrel of oil is at its lowest in years and we still pay $4.92 a us gal. and it's all fn water.

Only about 10 acres unfortunately. Anymore than that and it becomes a lot of maintenance.

Oh ok, I just wanted to get a bit of an idea how it stacked up against a quad.

Wow 12 hour trip from Melbourne!!.. That guy must be really keen. Though, Victoria does not have rec reg for quads if I remember correctly.

Yes, both of my 350's are air cooled. I run BP 98 Octane with either Castrol TTS or Motul 800 oil.

I do actually have a 350 water-cooled head kicking around somewhere. Once I have a few rides and maybe get a cylinder head temp gauge on I might go down the water-cooling path for now though probably won't watercool yet.

Canadian Oddy, which cylinder head style are you running the straight finned or the Y-finned?

Well I don't know, you decide.

Canadian Oddy, Oh no. Sorry, it was in the very early hours of the morning here when I last posted and I was half asleep!

Watercooled cylinder and head, great looking setup. Are they one of custom cylinders and heads?

What sort of temperatures does it average in your area?

Yup those are two of my home made head and cylinders (have one more on the spare Engine).
During the summer it can get to nearly 100'F (37'C).
It does get hotter in the interior though but not here on the coast.
Right now the oddys are running 130'F (54C) and seem to really like the cool temp. We did notice that when the Engine temps came up there was a noticeable loss of power. It seems the colder they run the more power they got. Current temperatures around here are 70'F (21C) plus, but cooler in the mountains.
