I have a pair of Hiper Tech3 carbon fiber wheels that I want to make work on my Pilot. They are 3 piece wheels, two rim halves with an aluminum center piece with the bolt pattern sandwiched in between. Thinking of having two new centers made with the correct 4x130 pattern.

Big question is cost, anyone have a rough idea?

Thanks!!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to make something like this ??
I am a not a machinist but a millwright and I am thinking that making a whole new center for your wheels will be expensive.
Just a thought.

I have a set of those I am putting on a Triple EEE car. I asked down here in Las Vegas and they asked how many. For 4 of them the price was out of this world(over a 1000$). If I was making 400 of them pretty cheap> The pic CO should you is the route I am going now. I see there point when they quoted me the price. All the time to set up, produce and then move on to the next job. Time is money. You may try calling the manufacturer and asking them. I never did as I figured they would be about the same price.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I did talk to the wheel manufacturer a couple times. They did make the 4x130 pattern at one point years ago but no longer have any of the setup. They said they'd make another batch if I ordered 100 or more.

I don't have a problem running an adapter but all of them on ebay are like 1.25" thick and cant find something thin like your picture.

Maybe Hiper can pull a couple out of production before they drill the pattern?

Then you just add your pattern?

Oooo that's not a bad idea! I'm going to shoot them an email and find out.

Looks like working with Hiper is a bust. They won't sell me any raw castings. I said I didn't want raw castings, just a couple that are pulled out before the drilling is done.

Reply: "The machine does both. Once they load 4 of them in the mill the program runs full operation. The choices would have been raw or finished with a current lug sizes."

So that's that, no option from Hiper. I'm told they used to be way more flexible for requests like mine before Weld bought them out.

Back to adapter options...

The adapters can be made thin if they are made out of steel.
The ones available are probably aluminum to save weight so they have to be thick for strength. You can lighten up the steel ones by drilling a bunch of holes in it (but not to many).

You may be better off using Trx450 rear hubs and having someone turn a seal surface into it. If I remember correctly its 24 spline. I may be mistaken but I can check later.

Yeah I agree. I don't think they'd be so heavy that I'd worry about drilling them. Just have to find someone to make a pair for me!

I see one small issue that may be a problem with an adapter.
The pic you show of those wheels are an eight bolt pattern. That means four of those bolt holes will line up with the four bolts that hold on the adapter to the oddy hub.
It won't be an issue if the adapter has a large OD, but will be an issue if those bolt holes line up with the oddy hub.

Thanks bullnerd, I f'n hate mice. I nabbed over 15 of them this spring in my garage and still found a nest in the airbox of my minty 86 250R. So that means they're going down the frame tube to get in. Makes me crazy! Need to stuff the intake holes with steel wool next year!

CO I'm not 100% sure I follow your warning. The rim has 8 holes drilled for 4x110 and 4x115. If I use an adapter like your pic, or even the thicker aluminum ones, the original studs are countersunk. So all that's left on the rim face is the correct 4 studs at 4x110 or 4x115.

Or am I just missing what you're saying?? It is a few hours after beer-thirty.

Looks like I misinterpreted the picture. I thought all eight holes were same pattern. I got it now, you only use four of them at a time. Apparently there are two different bolt patterns drilled in that rim.

Yeah they double drill them so they fit more applications. Nice wheels I just wish they'd run some more 4x130 I bet they'd do alright with it.

Sounds to me like this would be right up Speedchaser's alley:

It's best to PM me as it still works

As for the adapter plate for your wheels you have print of the wheel with bolt hole locations ?

I might be able to do a quick over lay and get you a price

thanks Speed

Based on your screen name you probably live in Florida somewhere. You mean there is no machine shop in your area ?? No city or town would survive without millwrights, machinists, electricians and HVAC guys. There is a machine shop in my home town and we only have 5000 people and there are two more 30 miles from here. I could probably do it for you but it wouldn't be worth it to ship from Canada.

I'm actually in Bristol, Connecticut. The FL part is for the FL400. I was asking on here because you guys know what I'm talking about a little better than a local shop where I'd probably have to supply a lot more detail.

Be nice to work with fellow PO people!
