So today I worked on a top.
I have enough supplies to make one for each gator. Took a hodge podge of items I've had for years.
2 pick up truck bed extenders. One stainless and one aluminum.
1 Profesional carpet cleaner wand
Mics u clamps that came with a bunch of ham radio stuff I just bought a few weeks ago.
Pieces from a trampoline frame
The three supports are stainless and the roof area is framed in aluminum.
The supports sit on a slip fit joint and the whole thing lifts right off.
The two rails in the bed are not attached yet not sure about them yet.
May just use a small tarp to cover it or may try to cover it with aluminum.
The center rail is a couple inches higher to help she'd water.
The only thing I had to buy were 5.00$ worth of eye bolts.
I have everything here to make an exact copy for the other one.

Update.
After looking at it I'm gonna make the center bar level and cover the complete top in a sheet of aluminum.

Worked on number 2 today. I ran out of bolts and sheet metal screws. The sheet of aluminum came from a huge score board. I have about 10 sheets. Fit perfect. I will trim the back and front corners when I'm done.

After looking at them I'm gonna chop the top and drop it as well as shorten the roof, the overhang.
I'm gonna keep the one the way it is though.

LOL.
Well the bends are a bit off but who cares -- are you building a show car or just something for around the yard. No need to impress anyone.

to paraphrase: Ain't nothing wrong with that picture! Move on, there's a lot more tinkering to do around that property.

I put the corner bar in backwards. I have to remove the aluminum sheet and fix it. It will bug me.
Told the wife I needed sheet metal screws and she looked at me like I was nuts. Forgot I bought about 30lbs of them and I have more aluminum and all the time in the world.
So I left it for today and finished up the roof on the other one. I shortened the height and length by about 3" and I like it better. Still have to mount the bars in the bed.
New batteries are installed and I replaced the fuel filters. Have to tube one tire but I'm almost done.

So I'm thinking I will make a half windshield using police riot shields cut in half. I'll come up with something.

Dismantled the first roof and redid it. Also cut it down like the other roof. Just need to lay a aluminum panel up there and trace and cut it.
Weather anyone sees it or not I would always know it was screwed up and would bug me. Just because I have tons of stuff sitting around here it doesn't mean I don't like to do stuff the right way and I do take pride in my work.
And I have a whole 5$ in both tops 2.50$ each.

Finished up the second gator yesterday. Added front and rear bumper made out of aluminum pipe. Not aluminum tubing this is gauge seamless pipe. Real strong. U bolt in the front bumper is bolted to the frame so it's pretty sturdy.
I sprayed the inside of the roof with undercoating to deaden sound and I rivited in my fiberglass cross braces. It's way quieter now. Also traced down every rattle and now it is rattle free.
I replaced all sheet metal screws with rivits. Had to do it.
Last but not least I made a cover for my indicator lights. Cheap me didn't want to pay 10$ for one. I cut it out of a green plastic tub and used pieces of a broken tail light for the lenses. I drilled holes around the edge of the cover to let silacone fill the holes and help it to stay there.
So by my final tally including a new battery and new key I'm in for about 285$ as it sits.
So back to the buggy ,,I ordered a new keyway and it won't be here until Monday so I'm gonna mess with the 6x4 until then.
I'll start a post on it for anyone who may care.

Thank you. Hauling stuff around the yard, stuff that's not worth getting the tractor out for. Also got 13 heavily wooded acres that I use to have trails cut through for my other gator and I'll work on opening them back up. Havent seen my back corner for about 8 years. Also will use it to cruz around the national Forrest when I don't feel like hauling butt in the Dakart.
The other one is at my mom's and she uses it to pick up sticks and haul planting soil around.

Did a few new things to the gator. I'm gonna take it out to the national Forrest tomorrow and needed a few things done.
First off I added a gasket waterproof box in the bed to protect my recovery gear and anything else I want to keep dry. The turnbuckles hold it firmly in place and it sits on a Section of anti fatigue mat to eliminate the box from sliding. The two sections of orange fiberglass keep the turnbuckles from distorting the box. I can remove it I just a minute or two.
The box originally held 2 portable oxygen tanks and masks.

Next I needed a windshield. This was a sneeze guard from one of the serving tables I bought when I bought the gators. It already had the hinges and stainless plates on the sides. I just had to cut it to fit which took a bit of time to get it right. Since the pics i trimmed the rubber spacer under the hinges where they bokt to the hood.
The windshield has no scratches marks ect. It looks like new.

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Since the pics I added a stick on rubber foot to the middle of the windshield to rest on the hood. It's just temporary.
