Finished.
I replaced a rack boot, made spacers to take up slack in the hubs, wired in two cigarette lighters in the glove box,one with two USB ports built in. Installed a 3000lb winch with synthetic rope and made a stopper for it out of a castor wheel. I installed a switch for the winch in the dash and made a remote switch which I used a cat 5 cable for and installed a plug for it in the glove box. Installed my gps which plugs into my cigarette lighter in the glove box.
Had to totally redo my roof frame. It was one of the first things of this type I've ever built and it showed. Was no way I would have used it as it was. The top is a CJ5 top. I used the factory snaps and a few screw gromits so I can easily replace it.
I rebuilt the fenders. I changed hoods from one of my others. I also made a fold down windshield with a center brace.
I cut all rust from the bed ,ground it down and cleaned it up and painted it. I used thick 2.5" aluminum angle to frame out the edges and installed the bed liner. I opted to not use the tailgate but made a wire section to keep stuffin and to have a place to snap the back flap down.
Still need two tail lights but I'm calling it done.

I like that cj5 top idea. Box better than factory now.
Fix those seat so you don't get a wet bum and that thing will be perfect.

I'd love some seats but not at this time. They are on the list though and once I have a few outings on it Ill be more likely to buy some.

So I saw they offer replacement shocks but they want 175$.. i knew i had to have something here in my "collection" that woukd work and i found some shocks from a old Triumph motorcycle. They fit perfect, are preload adjustable and it really improved the ride.
I also ran fiberglass rods in the top of the roof frame to to add extra support for the top and to tighten it up.the rods were side supports for volleyball nets. I came across a pallet of them out here that I've had for years and forgot about them. Once I found them I decided to fix the top rather then build a new one.
The wire " tailgate" is cut from a police car partiton system.
I was thinking of using one as a support for a roof, strong enough to double as a roll bar and has the sliding window. The down side was they weigh about 80lbs and I really want to keep the weight down.
So after all is said and done I've got less then 150$in parts not including the winch, and thousands of dollars in labor.
