In some of the recent posts I have commented on using JB Weld.
Below is some pics in my old shop of one of our damaged housings we mounted on the wall.
The intake port you see there is actually JB Welded into the housing. Many of the racers did this to save money. You could buy custom housing from Mazda Competition in Comifornia but they were real expensive. The intakes were not JB'd but actual factory racing units. They would not sell to public unless you showed proof of racing licence, a rotary
Engine and results from 3 races per year. Anyways the JB units worked well with no issues. Basically this took a stock 12A Engine from 100 hp to 247 hp (actual dyno results). The stock intake holes were JB Welded shut.
The car is one of two race cars I have run in my life. The first was a Datsun 510 GT3 car. It looked stock but was actually all race car. It did 153 mph at Seattle International raceway. In 1982 I won the championship and qualified to go to the Nationals at mid Ohio and race for the North American Championship. Had no money left to go -- rats.
