I had a couple hours to work on the oddy so i took the head and cylinder of and di the metel base and head gasket. Is this about the right amount oof red silicone to use. Oh i also did the vacuum hose.

That looks like a lot of silicone, but I guess I shouldn't judge. I put a lot on too. You don't really need that much and you don't want the extra floating around inside an Engine. But these engines are forgiving as long as you don't have an air leak.
