So now that I have started college I won’t have as much time for the ole’ pilots as I used to, so I have decided to put them into “hibernation” for awhile until I have more time for them. I still love posting on the site but just not enough time to ride right now. So alittle backround, my dad bought his first odyssey a fl250 back in the late 80’ and then bought a 350 in the early 2000’s and restored them
Both and kept them in the garage until I was about 11-12 then I started played with them and we found another 350 on eBay up the street from us so he bought that and we both rode the 250 and 350’s around for awhile always looking for a pilot to come up for sale around us and we finally did in 2012 so he purchased that machine and I did total rebuild on that machine after the bottom end bearing went out. After riding the first pilot and rebuilding it we were both hooked and wanted another pilot. So he sold both 350’s and the 250 and bought another pilot in 2013. Soon after buying that pilot I did a rebuild on that one as well. So I have been playing with these pilots the past 4-5 years so they have a very close connection to my heart my pride and joy literally. I even got my senior pictures with one of my pilots. So back to now, I’m in college and have been coming home on the weekends to get the pilots ready to be stored so that when I have more time to play with them they are ready to go.

(Not 100% sure on all dates of purchase but you at least get the idea)

So far I have:
-put on wood blocks to keep weight off tires and suspension
-cleaned,painted,adjusted front brakes
-fixed air leak in clutch side seal
-drained gas out of tank and carb bowls
-put battery tenders on
-changed Engine and trans oil recently
-lubed up choke cable with cable luber

Great story and good looking pilots. You are very fortunate to share this passion with your father. Buckle down and hit he books it will payoff. Pilots will be waiting when you return.

In my opinion NO.
Antifreeze prevents aluminum from corroding because of the additives in it. Water has none and if the system was dry that may be even worse.
Fuel tank may be the same issue. If you drain it then you better coat the inside with some two stroke oil, but eventually the oil runs to the bottom.
You talk like college is a death sentence. I doubt you will be in college long enough to damage the pilots. A few years in prison may seem like a death sentence but eventually you will get out. Then you have to get a job and that is a life time death sentence. You'll see.
Opinions anyone ??

I go to college about 30 minutes from home, so I go home frequently. But I just wanted to make sure they were put away right. And haha no not like that... lol
