So I recently seen these 2 fl350’s with fenders from another ATV. I thought it was pertty cool that someone found a way to make these work. They don’t look half bad either. I’m going to reach out to them to see if they can tell me what they came off of. What’s your opinion of them?

They might look good but I bet money they don't do anything. Your gona get sprayed with poo weather you like it or not. The only way to prevent some of that poo from getting to you is to install side skirts.
I believe someone also made some Yamaha banshee fenders work. If I find the thread I will post.

Those don’t look bad either and I agree that you are still going to get shit on you no matter what. My concern is more for the rear where you want to keep all that mud off the Engine and components. It’s just a good option for people that want them. I see people charging $1350 for a set of NOS FL350 fenders. That’s more then I have paid for an entire FL350. The raptor fenders you can pick up for $250 used and $450 new.

Anyone have ideas on options for a pilot? I mean other than spending $200 (used) to 500 (new or newer) apiece for them? I’ve seen a few making body panels and fenders for the oddy’s but none for the pilot. Shiny diamond plate fenders, anyone?

I'll bet you could make your own fenders.
Year before last I was gona make a vacuum former. I sourced out styrene sheets etc. Even bought 3 heaters. Then I gave up on the idea because I knew we would never run fenders again. At the end of the day you could probably vacuum form fenders if you used 1/16 styrene (HIPS). White 4'x8' is less than $45. You can get it here: https://www.professionalplastics.com/HI ... YRENESHEET
These guys got offices across USA but mostly in the west.

these fenders were never vacuum formed. its a dry powder that's put in a mold and put into an oven, i use to work at a plastic place. I don't think a vacuum form one would be strong enough. i could be wrong

Interesting.
I didn't know that and it appears you may have saved me a lot of time and money. I have been schooled.
It always helps when you talk to someone that has worked in an industry. My original plan called for thin plastic because I didn't want to buy a vacuum pump and tank. I was just gona use a shop vac. If that didn't work then I would buy a vacuum pump. At the end of the day it may have all failed. I did tour a plastic plant once because they were advertising for a millwright. So I went to look. Cool stuff. I do things like that occasionally, just go for a tour and see how stuff is made.

You can buy new ATV Maier fenders all day long. Cut em in half, trim them to shape, bolt them on and your set. Many option available. Even cheaper - buy used ATV fenders.

I wonder how these would bolt up? Flip around (side to side) to go on the rear????

$75.00 a set for blue or orange - that's cheap.

Rmesser,
That is a great artical & thanks for sharing the link as well. Great prices on that site, a full set of raptor fenders for $350 and you can’t beat the ones you posted for $75. I’m tempted for sure.

Yes, exactly like that. Except on a pilot! Saw your pics when you built them and they look great but no one has done this on a pilot that I have seen yet. I would think that individual ingenuity would have kicked in on one of the engineering minds on this site and let capitalism take over from there! Seems like there ought to be an option that doesn’t subject you to the will of the man (E-bait)? Just another example....

I did not build those fenders and they are not mine. Those are not my cup of tea to be honest, I would rather plastic, it is more durable.

When there is a will, there is a way!

I didn't want to throw this out prematurely but I'm working on replicating fenders. Pulled a couple prototypes already and the final product is looking promising! Should bolt up to oem brackets and I hesitate to say unbreakable but I'm feeling like they will out live the brackets that hold them on in the event of a accident. First ones will be available in black with white ones coming after through testing..

I've held my tongue pretty well so far. Fenders are getting close, also working on a few other goodies :)

There's some good news! Any ideas on a price point?

Edit - are these for Oddy or Pilot fenders? I see the oddy in the background.

Sorry - got your foot well post confused with that pic. And I agree, the diamond plate seems like a good fit for the inside panels and foot well but plastic would be much better for fenders.

I'm hoping no more than $600 for a set of 4. Once the Odyssey fenders are going I'll move to pilots. I'm actually trying to find a Pilot now but haven't found the right one. Well maybe I have but dealing with someone out of state so I have to move at their pace.... I'd also like to make a one piece fender/hood combo for the odyssey. Just haven't had time to mess with it.

Just curious what you do for a living --------- (if you want to share).
Do you work in the plastic industry ??
On that plastic plant I toured they had two 50 ton and one 100 ton machines. There was another 100 ton off in the corner they needed a millwright to work on and get it running. They were all injection mold units. I did not see any thermoforming machines.
If you work in that industry, do you think I would have wasted my time build that ??

Canadian!!! We finally meet :) I've talked about you quite a bit with Methodical Fabricator and have been waiting to send you a PM. I guess since the cats out of the bag I'll just tell you that I would like to send you and a few others a set of prototype fenders to test and give me feed back on if you would be willing? I do not work in the plastics industry, I'm in sales so don't hate me for being no help on the injection molding.
