I have seen in some recent posts that people have powder coated the rear trailing arms on their pilots. I don’t understand how they removed the rubber bushings (pictured below), or can you powder coat the trailing arms with the bushings in place?

I’m going to say you cannot powder coat them. You will wreck that rubber bushing from the heat etc.... Right now I cleaned mine up and just spray painted them. They turned out nice. Probably not as tough as powder coating.

I have a powder coating plant only 8 minutes from me. I’m going to be taking my rims in to get stainless media blasted, e coated and then powder coated.

When I worked at a different company years ago they use to be a vendor of ours that’s how I know about them.

When I take my rims in after the 4th I’ll ask them about doing parts like this with the bushings in it and any recommendations they might have.

Yea, no worky for powder coat. PC needs 400F in an oven. At that temp those bushings are sure to fry. That said you might be able to find some delrhin aftermarket bushings, but I suggest a 2 part epoxy paint. Even Rustolium Appliance Epoxy from a can works well.

I had a frame done and forgot to remove one of the rubber exhaust hangers, it got powdwrcoated red but still works. If you have a spare arm give it a try.
