Anybody think a guy can make a homemade 500cc two stroke from scratch ??
Everything except the piston and con rod.
Being thinking about this for almost a year and the only thing holding me back is that I have no templates of the cylinder, porting, head and crank counter weight dimensions.
Honestly I think this is feasible and it would be a great oddy experimental.

Don't forget about the counter balancer

I didn't know they had one  .
That will kill the project. Don't want to start making gears.

Sure would like to try this project this winter without a counter balancer.
I am pretty sure the early model 500's didn't have counter balancers. Can anyone confirm that ??
I have looked online and I don't see them in the drawings, but most of the drawings are crap.
Really need some specs and dimensions on these engines. How much do the crank counter weights weigh ?? What are the dimensions ?? Port map measured from the top of the cylinder ?? Dimensions of the head ?? This is do-able if no counter balancer.

If I’m reading this correctly I’d like to help...
The big bore bike engines do not have a counter balance setup which when mated to an ATV chassis typically makes a very powerful paint shaker with often broken Engine mounts etc.
The 500s work in the bikes 2/2 different harmonics, something that must be strongly considered when thinking about a 350 or Pilot bike Engine swap or creative/from scratch build.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input.
I did think about cracked Engine mounts because of the vibration and was gona use the homemade oddy rubber isolators. That may not be enough though, as you are suggesting.
Also thx for the counter balancer comment. I didn't think they had one any either. Couldn't see it on any drawing I found.
This 500cc Engine thing is just something I have been thinking about for a long time.
You see, when I look at an Engine sitting on my bench, it just looks like it can easily be made because what I see when I look at it is just two pieces of pipe. One is vertical called a cylinder and one is horizontal and called a crankcase. The crankcase is just a tube with a bearing on each end and a shaft. The cylinder is just a pipe with a bunch of holes in it called ports. It's not that tough.
