So I will comment here.
In 2017 and in 2018 we had major wild fires here in BC. Here are the two Wikipedia stats:

A total of 2,600,000 acres or our province burned. That's 0.001 % of Canada. It had a major affect on our forestry industry here in BC.
Please note that the fires here happened in ONE province (state) and not in the whole country. It burned 0.011 % of BC.
In Australia right now it has burned 12,000,000 acres. That's 0.006 % of the country.

I am not saying that it's not bad down there right now, because it IS bad. But the Liberal media is really hamming it up. It's golden times for the lefties right now.
I ride around here in the mountains right now and it's still just fine. The world has not come to an end.
The leader of Aus is being blamed for this. The loonie lefties are blaming him for a climate Armageddon.

Amen brother. Sounds like your country is as divided as ours is.

Canadian politics is really polarized right now. I have never seen it this bad in my life. We just had our federal election Oct 21st 2019.
All of the eastern provinces (states) voted Liberal except Quebec. They voted PQ which is the French separatist party. All of the western provinces voted Conservative. In fact NO LIBERAL was elected in Alberta or Saskatchewan and only a few got elected in BC.
The Liberals got in with a minority of the votes in this country (its our setup here based on seats).
Basically two provinces decide who will run this country because they have the most electoral seats. Imagine if California and Florida are the only two states who decide who the President will be . I wonder how that would go over in Yankee land. I know you guys would get out the guns. But that is the reality in Canada. Only Ontario and Quebec decide who will be the Prime Minister. Even if everyone else in the whole country voted for the other party.
Right now there is a growing movement and a brand new party called Wexit. A play on Brexit in Britain. It is a western Canada only party and it's a western separatist party. They will be running candidates in the next federal election. I will be voting for them.
Nobody in the world cares about Canadian politics because we are just nobody's. Not many of us and we have a joke military.
