Took a ride today. The Sierra has been awfully dry this winter. Roughly 25% of our average precip for the year....really depressing.

Here's a decent shot:

If you have any recent ride pics, post 'em!

No chance in hell there will be any riding in my part of the world for several more months.
If we are lucky we could get some low rides in by May.

The pic I posted should be covered in several feet of snow right now.

Yeah that happened here a few years ago. It happened two years in a row. Very early riding season. But this year most of the hills got 120% of normally snow pack. So it seems to vary and go in cycles. Looks like it's dry for you this year. That's good and bad.

I think the low deserts got all the water the sierras missed, been more rain and flooding that I have seen in 35 years at Glamis, they just got hammered again in the last couple of days

We've been getting tons of rain here in the Phoenix area, just last night it stormed from around 7pm-5am.

On the dry spells (snert), I've been doing my best to get out and burn some hydrocarbons!

Here's a shot of the mountain close to my house, from the west side of it facing east. This is maybe 2 miles in.

From there, you head north and then east about 10 miles here's a shot of that same mountain, from the east side facing west.

While out on this ride, I got these next two shots. The first is my favorite view I've come across so far :-)

And I also had this guy run out across the trail in front of me! I halted immediately and scrambled to get my camera. He was hauling ass to get across the trail, but once he got to the shoulder he slowed way down and started strutting for me, like he owned the place :-)

Also wanted to share these, even though they weren't my Honda...

I took these on St. Patrick's Day this year, we had a blast! Hopefully they won't forget, I know I won't.

Here's a shot of me taking my oldest boy across the New River, I consider this to be in my 'back yard', my home trails if you will :-) I can just drive there from my driveway.

If y'all ever are in the Phoenix area, there's a hotel by my house you can launch from :-) You can drive to the Tonto National Forest from there. I'd even be willing to place fuel drops!

OH man that looks like awesome territory to ride on !!
Don't know about the lizards  . I see cactus in those pics. Any issues with flats ? Very nice territory.
You're doing the good dad thing -- awesome. The kids can always look back in their life and say they had a great childhood.

very nice, enjoy while it's cool, in a month it'll be hitting trip digits, looks like your desert is in full bloom now, Glamis has all kinds of wild flowers going on.

Kuma,

Yeah we're definitely in full bloom. Sniffles?? Is it allergies or teh Corona!?

I'm really trying hard to capitalize on the good weather while it's here. I actually have my truck at my machine shop, having the UTV cradle installed today. I dropped it off last night :-)

So that'll let me get out to wherever we want with both of the UTV's. Maybe do a little social distant camping, that sort of thing.

CO,

It's AMAZING!!! If you ever get a chance, c'mon down!

Honestly I've never had issues with flats, even with the bias tires on the twins. Every now and then I'll see a spine sticking out of one of the tires, but for the most part where I drive is already a beaten trail, devoid of cacti and whatnot.

And thanks on the Dad thing, I try. My dad was freaking amazing, big shoes to fill :-)

BTW that's where I got my handle from... my 2 favorite things... my garage and being a dad :-)

Indeed it is! It is the first one I've ever seen in the wild :-)

Nice riding area, Groj.

And quick update on that first pic I posted, as of last weekend, that area is now covered in 3ft of snow. So there you have it.

FN snowing here again. Cloud cover right on the deck. It's gona be July before we get in the hills the way this is going. Normally we get our last dump of snow first week in March. Nothing on the ground down low here but it will be up high.

Edit: Guila monster size flakes coming down now.

The dope finks in Aus will probably try to pick it up and lick it to see if they can get high.
Don't laugh -- I read a piece a long time ago where dope finks were licking toads to get high.
