 Post subject: What do I have?

I have sanded the paint where the serial number should be, and its stamped with a VIN. Does this look familiar to anyone the way its built?

Post the vin number please. Then I can tell you what year it is.
That's a FL250 bottom frame but the whole top end is homemade.
That's an FL250 Engine.

I believe that is an elsinore top end on a fl250 bottom end.

The 84 only had 1 spark plug?

No I believe they all had two plugs but I'm not sure on that. It could be that someone bolted on a CR head for more power.

I concur..... the top end looks to be from a cr250....cannot remember the years that were compatible...maybe 74-75?

I made this mistake here once.
A new member asked this question a long time ago and I said check your reeds. They said there wasn't any reeds. I don't own a FL250 so I said there should be reeds. I must have sounded like a clown (not the first time either).
The FL250 is piston ported. It don't need reeds.

Ok, so it is a CR top end. I know I have 150+ on a compression test. I think I'll try to put this all back together once my rebuild is done on my other one.

Looks like CR250

Pressure test to ensure no leaks especially crank seals.

73-74 CR250 heads were interchangeable with the FL's
