Damn.
I remember this guy. He was a great rider along with others like Bob Hannah, Broc Glover, Ricky Johnson and so many other talented riders.
I always knew sand dunes were dangerous. I guess if you run them all your life you lose the fear, kind of like my brother and I riding here in the mountains.
Sure liked watching those motocross stadium races on TV way back then.

Very sad, I'm on the Glamis group and read about this and just do not understand, the article says that he rolled his buggy, he was not wearing and seat belts and his wife only had a lap belt?
I learned a long time ago that you had better strap in even if you are going from camp to the store, I wasn't that first time, just hitting a small roller bump my head hit the roll bar, that will make you aware of how you need to buckle up.
And, it is not easy to roll out there you almost have to try, I say almost, I have rolled the pilot more than once.

Yeah I wish there was more info on the crash,apparently it was a 4 seater and the other couple survived
