As you can tell ---- if you see colored ribbons or painted rocks before you get near a corner that means there is an issue -- LOL. So pay attention. The camera pics don't do it justice but some of those drop offs are almost straight down. Road is in good condition actually because sometimes it's impassable.
Apparently the company beer poacher works for will be going in here in the next couple of weeks to fix this road so that they can go logging.

We busted the left rear shock eye. Tied it in place with a tie down and off we go.
Also blew a belt.
Think the belt on my machine is toast too. I could feel it slip.

I think you need to rename the death machine..lol Maybe call it old faithful, or life saver.. :-) You don't want a self fulfilling prophecy on a machine called death.

well you can look on the bright side, with the road so bad you can ride without needing to worry about coming head on to a log truck and it looks like at least when you broke the shock you didn't lose an axle, and what a nice place to hang out :-)

Maybe some time for some experimentation

Got some old tie rod end, shafts, pipe and plates.

Need to find a way to get rid of the twisting force on that shock.

Play in bearings, drive shaft trans etc. has to causing an issue.

Did some mock up thought to take some of these issues out of the equation.

Move winter projects for you.

Hummm ------- ideas :-) .
At the end of the day though I think the real issue is the homemade shock eye that I made.
This shock eye was cast by me in a sand box and melted aluminum.
There is no way for me to have any porosity control so I'm thinking there was probably a lot of microscopic porosity in that casting. It looked real good when I pulled it out of the mold but obviously not.

Why not make that shock end from two pieces and weld together out of steel.

Hole saw out of plate and weld on nut the use round pipe for shock eye bushing and weld toghter
