Not that I can build anything better really, but I see a ton wrong with this thing's design.

I just think it's super cool.
Imagine 50cc = 20 HP.
Would really like to see a turbo oddy.
It would probably have a gazillion HP. Shove your sled Engine oddy's. :-)
If I had the tools and the skills guess what I would be building this winter :-) .

Interesting. I always thought turbo 2 strokes were difficult due to typically only having ports and no valves. I know there’s ways around that, but you don’t see too many people doing it.

If accurate, that is crazy power to weight.... wonder if it would be reliable over time.

I don't think they were worried about reliability. I thought I read somewhere it was for a speed record but not sure on that or where I read it.
Anytime you stress a component you shorten life. U-joints are an example of that.
The rated load or angle will decrease the u-joints life. As a general rule of thumb, for each doubling of the operating angle, RPM, or load, the lifetime of the joint is decreased by half. Rated lifetimes are on the order of 3000 hours.
CO

This is the U-Joint chart for the above comment:
SHAFT RPM OPERATING ANGLE
5000 3.25°
4500 3.67°
4000 4.25°
3500 5.00°
3000 5.83°
2500 7.00°
2000 8.67°
1500 11.5°
CO

Edit: Based on my suspect math:
The oddy axel only turns 900 rpm. That's about half the rpm above. Therefore we should get 6000 hrs of life.
However - the angle of an oddy shaft is about 20'. That's about double the angle above. Therefore we should get 3000 hrs of life.
