Back in the 80's I rolled up a flat piece of sheet metal and bolted it to the bottom of my 10 bolt rear axle that would run hot towing on my 24 hr trips to Florida that did the same thing. Directed air flow over the stock steel diff cover, made a night and day difference.

There is a rest area on the top of Monteagle Tennessee before the mod you could not touch the rear diff, after you could hold your hand on it. I never used that Surburban off road so ripping it off was not a problem. Tight ass GM went from a 12 bolt to a 10 bolt to save weight/cost.

While I have never owned Banks products they are rumored to make products of the highest quality. Those to can afford Banks products will all buy the diff cover.
https://bankspower.com/

I did come close to buying their turbo kit for my 1982 Diesel Chevy Blazer since it was only like 130 hp, it got 22 mpg.

At the bottom the scoops, facing forward, scoops the air into a duct and forces it up out the top increases the cooling, also having the duct increases the heat sink surface area of the cover.

I fully understand the function of the cover, the part I missed was he thought it looked like an ass.
