Post subject:  Haier Mini Fridge Parts

Hello,
This is kind of off topic but maybe someone that has dealt with mini fridges, or fridges in RV's might be able to answer. My son has a Haier mini fridge, Model # HC17SF10RB. The thermostat went out on it. The part number on the thermostat itself is WPFE30A-L4. It also has a part number of 0060704746 and AP6039675 on different appliance parts websites. The problem is that the thermostat itself looks to be discontinued. I have emailed both Haier and the Chinese factory that actually makes the part to see if anything else is compatible. I am including a few pics. Any advice on what I should be looking for in a compatible part would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that only 3 of the spade connectors are used, the 2 for power and one for ground.

Thanks,
Max

Hey long time no see, I would keep searching the web for a https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Model+%23+HC1 ... ave&ia=web

Look on this page at the bottom at the Comparable Models list is that a comparable model fridge or thermostat?
https://encompass.com/item/10165702/Haier/0060704746/

Keep searching the web I bet someone has found a universal replacement. Change up your search engines try Google too, I hate Communist Google so they are a last result.

Universal refrigerator cold control mini fridge
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Universal+ref ... ave&ia=web

I would think any universal fridge cold control could be adapted in a pinch. Worse comes to worse if I had the wiring schematic for that fridge I could show you what wires to tie together where the fridge runs all the time and you would have to unplug to turn it off. Caveman I know but it would be better than nothing.

Is that a $79.00 Walmart type fridge, time to upgrade?

You still live in my neighborhood?

On a side note, when boon-docking in the desert I have my fridge on the coldest setting all the time, I run my 1000 watt Honda generator all night 8-9 hrs and let the fridge get as cold as it can then its good until the next night. I ALSO keep water bottles in the freezer at night to freeze solid then move them to the fridge part during the day so it acts like a Ice Box, then back into the freezer the next night... On the road I use my 2000 watt 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC inverter in the same matter, allow everything to get cold/frozen while on the road, turn off at rest areas while sleeping. I use 8 oz. bottles so you can easily fit them into tight places, Tried the ice packs they never fit anywhere more trouble than they are worth.

Let me know how you make out.

Or this one
https://www.amazon.com/Replaces-THERMOS ... 55&sr=8-11
It says it's a replacement for Haier and I bet many of these would be interchangeable.
I'm no electrician but for $25 bucks it's worth a gamble.
Many of the reviews on these products say these units worked.

How close are you to Munch's supply you could take the old one and see if they can match it up.
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=munch%27s+hva ... 0-1&ia=web

Back in my service day's use to do business with them all the time on HVAC parts. I have no idea what they are like today.

Looks like they have a location in New Lenox They even have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MunchSupply/

Hi Hoser, yes it has been a long time. Things change so fast. I am still at the same place in Joliet. I checked duckduckgo and encompass sites and it looks like all the comparable models use the same discontinued thermostat...lol.....no worries though. Yes, it was about a 79.00 dollar fridge, but that was 12 years ago..lol.... so it is a bit more.

So if I am looking for a comparable one, what parameters do I need to check? For example in the attached picture, on the tag, it has "250V 6(4)A 50/60Hz"... should the specs be the same on the compatible one?

Yes, I am in the same place in Joliet. Let me know if you still have my number, and if you want to stop by and get some lunch.

Thanks,
Max

CO, I was looking at the ones on amazon also and posted a question but was told it would not work. The poster did not explain why, so I really do not know if they knew what the were talking about. also.

I know some of them have "ears" to mount them, mine does not, but I could cut them off and make it fit if you think the specs would be compatible.

Hoser, I did try "Sundbergs" https://www.sundbergamerica.com

I have used them a lot for everything from my washing machine parts, dryer parts, and hot water heater parts but they had nothing they could recommend. I just hate to throw something away because of a 20 dollar part...lol......

Yeah with inflation the same fridge is probably $700.00 now

Yeah the 250V would be the max voltage that is pretty much standard, most everything if not all is rated at 250 volts for the countries that appliances run on 220v

Were only 2 wires hooked up to the thermostat? If so if you hook the two wires together the fridge should run but it will run until you unplug it. It would be a quick check to ensure it is in fact the thermostat and not the compressor, or out of freon.

If you have a connector like in the picture in the link you can just plug them into the 2 wires on that came off the switch to test (tape it up before plugging in for safety) over cutting the connectors off and twisting the wires together.

Post subject:  Re: Haier Mini Fridge Parts

Thanks Hoser, I will do that in the mean time to make sure the thermostat was the only defective thing.

FYI, here is the reply I got from GE Appliances:

Thanks for contacting our office.
I'm sorry to hear that. We do not offer the thermostat as a replacement for this model.
Best Regards,
GE Appliances

What else would I have expected...lol

Yes, I have found various thermostats, but all with different numbers. When I send a question to the seller, they usually say "no" it will not work, but do not explain why.

I would think as long as the voltage and amps are the same, it should work, right? I know I will more than likely have to figure out a way to mount it as mine does not have the "mounting ears", but that can be easily resolved as this is a stationary fridge, just used for bottles of water.

Thanks again

Hoser, I connected the wires as you had mentioned. Yes, the compressor did come on and it started cooling. I will try one of the two thermostats that CO had mentioned and see if they work. Will update once I get the thermostat installed.

Thanks again

I received the thermostat a few days ago, and installed it. So far so good. I have attached a few pics, side by side. The new one has the white hose, looks about identical......

I'm no electrician but that's what I suspected.
These companies are going to use off the shelf parts.
Highly unlikely they are going to build something that is proprietary because that costs money.
Even many vehicle manufactures use the same stuff the others use to save money.
Same thing with stoves, microwaves, dish washers, dryers, washing machines. The name is different but it's made in the same factory. All they do is put a different sticker on it.
I used to work at a Nestle' bottling plant (1200 bpm on line 2 alone). One day the big shots read us a letter a customer sent in. It stated that she will NEVER buy another bottle of Nestle' pure life water (I don't remember the reason) and she was now going to only buy Arrow head water. We all fell on the floor laughing. Those are two of the products we run at that plant and happened to be what we were running that day. Basically what we do is put a wooden stick across the line to block the bottles -- then run out the product -- change the labels in the basket -- pull stick out -- package the "new" product. Baahahahhahaha. Same bottle same water same everything except the sticker on the bottle --- Baahahahhaha.

In the words of Stoneman " did you take those pictures on the bed of your stabbin cabbin" :-)

Glad it working knew you could do it!

Where did you purchase and how much, any pics of the box?

My RV came with one of those small fridges so I have two but I think the thermostat is going bad on it.

No box, just came in a clear baggy. I imagine the seller is just a distributor and these things are unmarked and all built in the same place. Here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MPWHTN6?ps ... ct_details

So far it has been working pretty good, according to the thermometer is is about 40 degrees.

I bought it from Amazon due to the no hassle returns, but if you google WPF27.5S-923 you could probably get it cheaper.
