Another couple of steps done. Thought some may have an interest or have thoughts to share.

This box was made of alum, maybe a little on the thin side but I guess time will tell. I am using some steel plates to mount it and sturdy the box some. The box is a little large too, but so was the tach. I can actually see very well past it, well, I can't see my feet anymore. I am working out the best angle to mount it today. I may have to build a hood of some sort to help hide it or make it more streamline looking. I have a few ideas brewing for that already.

The tank has been aired out since last fall so no chance of blowing myself up LOL. I really liked where the factory tank guards hole was located, protects the sensor well and at a perfect 1/4 tank depth location. The sensor is a simple magnetic reed switch and also works great. I am going to wire it to an "idiot" light in the tach to let me know when I have low fuel.

Looking good I cant wait to see it in person, as with any project that has no instructions and then sometimes when they do have instructions heh you have to make changes and refinements sometimes no matter how much you plan your work and work your plan you think of a better idea after you first complete your planned idea, I already see a bunch of changes I want to make on the bus project.

that's it exactly! Kinda making it up as I go and doing my own thing. If my machines ever get stolen, they are very unique and should not be hard to spot. Bonus! LOL

Same with my bus errrr hoser hauler... :shock:

I wont ever have a problem picking it out of a lineup.

The tach is an excellent tuning aid. Once you have it you will wonder how you tuned without. Is that a fuel sender for a gauge?? I've got a sender in my tank and am running into problems with the race gas eating the insulation on the wires and plugging my fuel filter.

Hey King KX, its actually just a magnetic reed switch. Incase you don't know, a reed switch is a steel and copper strip that make up the switch and a small magnet in the hollow(floating) pivoting piece. The magnet holds the steel strip away from the copper strip, but when the float magnet pivots down(low fuel level), it releases the steel strip to spring into touching the copper one thus closing the circuit. The now closed circuit lights my low fuel light. Probably more info than you were asking, but someone may actually want to know. These switches are used alot in house/window/door intruder alarms(ADT,ect).
