These are made in Taiwan, the front suspension is very distinctive, it's a tall knuckle that looks like a strut. I saw several companies offering these at the power sports show in Indy (Jan ’06). Then I came across a booth from the company that makes them. They will brand it any way you want and make small changes to ‘customize’ the styling. Do a search on Google for ‘off road go cart’ and several companies will pop up selling these. Also there are many evilebay listings where the product is removed.

So what did you want to know? I would give you my opinion of them but it is biased (a little).

If you can wait until they are in production and afford the higher price tag this would be a much better machine: http://www.redlinesnowmobiles.com/products

It’s all in what you can live with. At ECJ my kids where riding around on a 50ccATV made by E-ton. It has a Yamaha knock off scooter drive train, I have no problems getting parts. Stuff from the local Yamahammer dealer bolts right on. The frame looks like a typical tube frame and I figured I could weld it up if needed. The problems I have had are with the plastic. The gas tank cap is busted and I have not seen a replacement that will fit. I took it in to work and used the plastic welder on it, looks like trash but it works.

If your friend is willing to deal with a shady parts supply and he can figure out where to get parts for the drive train it may be an OK deal (depends on price). It would be an OK ride for the kids but will not keep up with a Pilot (not even with me driving). It is a step above the yard carts and a little safer (my concern with the kids riding is getting run over by an ATV, cage will help with that).

While looking for a link for this string I happened across a few sites that look interesting. The first one I had seen before but he has added a lot to it. It is mainly a home built go cart. Not bad, I’m sure he will have fun with it.

This second one I do not remember seeing before. There stuff is a step above the go carts and if I where considering building a project with the kids I would consider what is offered here. The main advantage as I see it is the kit of parts. Don’t have a tube bender? Buy that part of the project and move on.

These look like they lend themselves to an Engine transplant later down the line. Build it for Jr. today with a 10 hp Briggs Engine and transplant a small bike Engine in a few years as Jr. can handle it. Better than an erector set.
