G'Day all, here's a link to a desert race that starts n finishes in Carnarvon,about 900km north of Perth West Aust, where I lived from 1979-1985.5...goes over 2 days. Takes in all that the outback has to offer. The Gascoyne River in Carnarvon flows upside down But when the cyclones drop all their rainfall inland, the Gascoyne R, floods and that's when the fun begins. My mate owned a tyre shop so we used to inflate the truck tubes,some for us, the others for the eskies full of beer. We would get dropped off some miles upstream, then plonked in the tubes, would float down with the strong currents drinking beers from the eskies that were floating in the other tubes. Then closer into town we would be picked up.
