Hey guys! I just completed a rebuild of the
Engine and put a new clutch and belt on at the same time.
It starts great but I cannot get it to shift into gear without major grinding or just slamming it in (in others words I can't get it in gear).
You guys are the Gods so please tell me what I am missing.

Holy smokes 2008 and only 2 posts
Anyways welcome back.
I am assuming you have the FL350 ?? Stock clutch ??
This is common for this machine. Even at idle it turns the driven pulley on the transmission and it will grind. Your idle must be as low as possible without stalling. You must be running a snug belt. My brother and I run a longer belt but I do get flak for it. But I works well for us as the Engine is spun up a bit more before clutch comes on. We run the HP3004 and it is 3/4" longer. It may not work for you. We run a 94c and a 102c comet clutch. Not sure what others run. The longer belt don't spin the driven at idle and then it goes into gear without grinding.
Note: DO NOT rev the Engine at idle all day long in your driveway. The transmission is a splash lube so it needs to be turning to lube all the bearings inside. You will blow your AB gear. We put two quarts of oil in the transmission. This over fill works well for us and have not blown a tranny. No parts for these around either so keep that in mind.
