I know that there has been much back-and-forth discussion on this topic, but what do you figure is the cause?? |

Other things going on here, burning all the way down to the crank cases....

Dunno, over heating? Why is it burning down the transfers? It has that wild ATVR hog it out bigger is better porting, port timing so wild it is burning back into the transfers? Too much duration? I dunno, you might call them and ask, maybe send them the pictures by email? |

Pnut your cylinder measures 3.228 can you call Wiseco to see if they have a piston kit that will fit your bore in stock? It would be nice if they had one for a 3.229 that would allow me to hone your bore .001 larger to ensure the rings seat well. OR in other words you have a 577P8 Piston, you need another, can they go pull 30 of them off the shelf and measure each one then send you the biggest one.. Maybe they can make you a 577P9 ??? I have been told years ago guys kept boring up to a CR450 why not go to 83mm ? |

Thanks for the info - I'll call Wiseco tomorrow to see what they have. |

Hoser, are the cases damaged like More's CSI? |

Nope not damaged like More's CSI, here is the exhaust port of Pilotnuts and mine.

Hoser - what does the tracing of the ports tell us?? Does this offer any clues into why my motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) was burning down into the crankcase? |

In the very least it means that your exhaust port timing is HUGE! I may have grown considerably with each successive bore and hone. The port is a lot larger than hoser's, and this could be why you see burning down into the crank cases like you do. It means that the piston isn't completely closing off the intake/ or possibly the transfer ports during combustion. If the porting on them is as radical as the porting on the exhaust then I suspect that's where the burning is coming from. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if it were mine I'd look into a new cylinder or getting that one resleeved. |

His exhaust port is actually smaller than mine, I talked to some Engine building gurus and they indicated the Engine probably needs more blowdown time area, I can see where I could make the exhaust port larger or even match mine but the cylinder is on the last bore, a new wiseco piston provides .006 clearance so he is looking for another cylinder. |

No problem, your comments got me thinking, I will see if I can find some graph paper, make another impression and see just what the difference is between the two, this might also help someone else in the future... |
