Here's the scoop I haven't had my pilot started for wile so the other day I started it and was letting it idel when all he sudden it started leaning out and increasing in rpm to the point of not shutting down with the kill or key switch pulled the plug wire as quick as I could and still no luck blocked the exhaust with rags and got it stopped. I know I should have just chocked the air box with my hand but I was in my wheelchair and wasn't thinking quickly. Have it time to cool down and it fired right up ideled fine for about 5-10 min and did it agin. Less than 3 hrs on Top end and port job . Had needle set on top notch dropped it to third notch no more runaway but no power band . Could it be a crank seal ?

Only way to know for sure would be to do a leak down test.

I'm leaning toward fuel supply . Low fuel light isn't working and fuel in tank was low. I'm hoping I didn't have any damage from the first time it did it. I Didn't do the port and top end myself and I've never been able to get it tuned just rite. Can't get it to lean out enough on the needle

Like rmesser said -- leak down test.
My first fl350 ran away like that several times and didn't do any damage.
If it does that again all you have to do is floor the throttle and it will shut down if the switch is off.
I know that sounds stupid to floor the throttle on a run away Engine but it works. It did for me.
You say you never got your jetting right --- I would for sure start with a leak down test and then start over with your carb jets and settings.
Check your intake manifold for a crack and check your fuel pump vacuum line. Do a flow test on your fuel pump for sure - trust me on that one. Your fuel intake lines in the tank might be corroded up as well.
My money right now says you got a big air leak.

I had a run away on my Pilot with a bad crankshaft seal (the one right near the clutch, can access by pulling clutch, and the seal is still available), be sure to make sure the crank is not pitted where the seal lip rides so it doesnt leak again, the crankshaft likes to rust there.

But like the other guys said. the leakdown test is a bit of a pain but really needs to be done if it was not done after the top end.

Fresh fuel?

Keep in mind at idle the input shaft in the trans is spinning without any supply of oil you have to drive it to sling oil up to lube the top bearings/bushings.

A hot spot and poor quality fuel can cause them to run away like that I would first check for the air leak if fuel quality is not an issue.
