So I took it out for a quick ride after replacing the suspension links. Take it for a ride. Bring it back and recheck all the bolts etc...

But....on the way back the throttle stuck about 1/2 to 3/4 open. I had to hit the kill switch to shut the Engine off. Anyone got any tips on what to check and how to clean and lube the cable if it isn't broke or frayed.

Figured I'd ask before I start taking stuff apart and wreck something!

I would say if its sticking, even with a good clean and lube, the problem can come back. One thing I would not want sticking is the throttle. In the heat of the moment you may not have the reaction to hit the kill switch.

I have pulled the steering cover and soaked the cable from the steering wheel back using a hill to allow the oil to penetrate. I would not recommend this, it was only a temporary fix for me.

I second this comment.
I had this happen to me on our race car at Spokane raceway back in 1982 when I was racing for a championship. If it would have happened at any other track we raced at then it would have been a very bad day for me.
It also happened to me on my pickup truck coming onto a major highway. The cruise cable frayed and my throttle stuck on wide fn open. Took a moment to figure out what was going on.

The first thing I would do is make sure it is not pulling on the cable when you turn the steering wheel.
Then look to make sure the cable sheath pulls freely through every loop it goes through in the frame.
Then look for a kink in the sheath if it got hit by a rock.
If all of this looks good then it's damaged inside so replace it.

It could also be a sticking carb slide.

Well it was a sticking carb slide. I took it to my ATV shop. Mike’s Motorsports. Mike looked at everything before trying to move it and couldn’t find anything a miss. So he gave the slide a small push with his finger down and it moved. So he pulled it out.

No scratches or gouges on the slide or in the carb body. It was one of two things.

1. A piece of dirt got in the carb (I did just change the air filter and I cleaned the air box. So that is my guess.

2. The little pins in the carb body that guide the slide he said can get worn etc...and cause issues but he didn’t think mine where bad at all.

He showed me how to put it back together and how it all works etc....He checked the cable etc...and everything else was fine.

So we driving it a few times now and all with no issues.

By the way he didn’t charge me anything and I did offer him some money for his service and he declined. That’s why I go there. You always get go hones service (even when paying for it) but he will take the time either on the phone or in person to help you out.

Later for now!
