Got a Engine by UPS today assume its cafercr's heh

Slight shipping damage to the head, guys remember UPS mutts are going to drop ANY pacakage you ship with them at least one time from the height of 10' I think the rule of thumb is for them to drop each package two times then drag it behind the truck at least 3 miles...

I should be able to straighten the damage out..

I see the crank seal sticking out my guess is the bearing retainer has balled up inside like Wiggens bearing did.

Looking in the exhaust, no major scuffing like a piston seizure stopped the Engine from rotating.

Oh yes that is mine! That sux about the head. I packed that sucker sweet too! Do your thing, Hoser. Let me know what you need.

While it is apart is there any low budget mods we can do to help her run stronger? Take a look, tell me what you think.

Cleaned her nice for ya. I know it isn't fun working on a dirty, greasey motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )).

Cleaning Tip

Next time you or some one needs to clean and Engine, I mean real clean it will look almost like new, will erase most of those stains on the aluminum.

Use this:

http://www.bettymills.com/shop/product/ ... 74017.html

I try it on the antiques bikes I have and it works like a charm, ones you apply a coat wait around 20 minutes then use a tooth brush and water, you will like the results...

Thanks Hoser!
It's like I got front row seat to my Engine rebuild.
Is there an extra cost for the illustration and text? LOL

Being this was the clutch side bearing - can we confirm the
" powerbloc syndrome" was the cause?

The " powerbloc syndrome" IMO is a knee jerk reaction, rumor, some arm chair keyboard caper threw out their into the mix of bearing failures, I wont buy it without some sort of proof that is the problem, the day this was brought up by a darkside member I asked why Rudedude has not contacted the MFG. and asked if the clutches are balanced or not and if it is possible a batch left the factory unbalanced, I got no reply other than he cant contact them, I find that answer pretty much bullshit how can someone buy thousands of dollars of parts from a well known long time established manufacturing company but not get any questions answered, I sent a bunch of emails to the company with no reply, I tried calling on the phone but person on the other end didn't speak English.

I have to assume that Rudedude took our money and RAN and their will be no customer service !

Maybe we can find someone that lives in Canada and speaks French to call them and see what IBC. says about the possibility of them being the problem.

Is it possible the clutch is the problem, you bet your sweet ass it can be but you gotta prove it to me before I buy an off the cuff remark made by someone that don't have a clue, I found your Engine to have a bunch of grit inside that I cant account for, it didnt pass through the intake tract because the reeds are spotless, I have no idea if it was sucked in through a leaking exhaust because I didnt take the Engine apart, it could have been sucked in through a bad crank seal directly through the failed bearing but I seen no grease around the crank seal that would indicate the seal was leaking, usually if the seal is leaking it will leak both directions not just suck in.

Their has been alot written about the clutch side bearing failures, the most logical theory I believe in is the bearing is not strong enough, the same size bearing is used on the FL250 clutch side crank, they didn't last long on modified engines, the fix was to add a bearing support and another bearing to the case doubling the bearing surface area on that side of the Engine, Marv at 4x4 Tuff.com made super cases for the FL250 that had provisions for 2 bearings built in.

If you feel or suspect the clutch is the or a problem I suggest you don't use it.

Hoser If you make out a list of specific questions you would like Power bloc to answer I know several people in Quebec that would make the call. Keep in mind they wont have any back ground on what a Pilot or a clutch is.

Send me the list of questions and the phone number and I have the call made
