The head was damaged from metal getting between the piston and head.

Cylinder looks worse than mine, head about the same shape. Glad to see the head can be saved.

Help out a newbie- How do you get the compression back if the head chamber gets bigger? I know you can split the stock 3-ply metal gasket up to change it a little, but it's not enough to make up for that kinda machining, right? Machine the deck height down off the head OR- shave the top of the cylinder, so the piston is moved up?

no one else agrees with me on the head usage, they will all say to trash it, fine just please send me all those junk heads, slight milling fine but anything with more than .020 off it I don't want

Material is removed from the gasket surface to compensate, the stock squish is .080 + , repairing the damage allows me to correct the over steep squish angle and the excessive squish clearance, these clearances are left sloppy at the factory to allow for production variations, I have the time to check and verify the clearances that Honda does not, you can bet their 'factory' or 'works' engines are perfect, some call it blue printing...

FYI in the pic above I was just getting started I will post the finished product when done.

Stoneman is getting serious about getting this thing running again so I bored the cylinder.

First pass.

After a few more passes the piston will fit about 1/2 in, the piston is tapered, smaller at the top than the bottom, the bottom is facing up

Stoneman wanted a little more power so its getting hoserized.

The guy that installed the sleeve made a big mess out of this cylinder I am trying to correct some of his butchered up mess.

Looks nice :-) New crank assembly and crank seals/bearings are on the way. The original crank lasted 18-19 yrs.
The guy that installed sleeve was a real piece of work.
When i first got it back i could feel the top of the sleeve sticking up over the top of the jug with my finger nail. He charged me another 75.00 for what you see there.

Do you think I will need to rejet after your Hoserization?

Thanks CB

that's my hone tank :-) What measurements are you looking for? I often see cylinder bores like that when they run the wiseco, all that slapping around with the extra clearance does that

Hoserazation complete, its hard to fix stupid (crappy sleeve install) .. If you ever get this thing re sleeved correctly send it back to me please!

Everything needs washed and cleaned good BEFORE you use them, the cylinder wall is oiled but it needs degreased and washed really well before use.
