Ahh they may have bored the cylinder then, I did a quick and dirty clearance test http://pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?t=3115 of the piston and cylinder and it looks like .003 clearance, a little tight for a Wiseco, I will take accurate measurements later on to verify, their is not enough bevel around the ports I know for sure... I am happy to see the clearance is not .009 or larger like I have found in the past :-)

Thanks for the info..

Ok now I have the piston out and cleaned up I can see the numbers, looks like RMC numbers each job they do?

Both cylinder dowels were rusted in place and had to be removed with a punch.

All the studs were removed so I can lap the top of the cylinder to see if its flat and to remove the RUST, the studs were slightly rusted but did come out pretty easy.

Removing the side cover is the first step in splitting the cases, I don't get it, they didnt scrape all the old gasket off before assembling.

Nut is not staked but I can tell they never tighten it just by looking at it and how far the lip you bend over is sticking up.

Hardly any effort was required to remove the nut, imagine what would have happen if this Engine was run with that nut lose, unreal!

Unusual marks on the case behind the balancer, never seen these before, you can also see corrosion on the cases (pink arrows) that is not normal.

Who ever assembled this Engine took the time to grease the seal surface but they failed to remove the RUST, I just don't get it, how long they expect this thing to run before the rust ate up the seal?

Here is with the grease washed off, I will have to polish this up to see if it can even be reused looks like their is too much pitting on the seal surface for it to ever seal.

How could you in your right mind pick up that rusted part as you see in the pics GREASE and INSTALL it ? What was the intentions here?

I don't get it, the Engine they went through for me has been running for the past 2 years with no problems. I do not know if they stamp ever part, but the piston on my 200x was marked by them. I am by no means a mechanic of any sorts, but even the things you are seeing are ones I know not to do.

I still owe hoser for my Engine rebuild lol

The case has mild damage to it, usually this damage happens when the rods big end bearing fails then the rod hits the cases, their is a raised edge on the gasket surface created by the rod moving metal, the raised edge is pushed into the gasket surface, a lite touch with a file followed by lapping on a surface plate cures this.

Here is the case with the OLD gasket completely REMOVED then files then lapped, it came out nice their is one spot that is still slightly low between the arrows, I will wait until I press out the crank shaft from the other case (tomorrow) then clean off the OLD gasket and give it a quick lapping, once that is done I can bolt the cases together and see how they mate up together.

The crank case dowels were rusted in place and fought all the way out, they need replaced...
You can see where the crank was rusted real bad by the amount of pitting.

More on the crank once its pressed out and the case and crank closely inspected.

I really know nothing about this Engine or who built it, it was sent to me to be disassembled and inspected, Afastcar has done the right thing by looking inside before using it, I have been advising to others for years to at least go through the top end of a 2 stroke they just bought as soon as they can, here it has paid off big time, I have no idea how long it would have run but I do know not long.

I have no idea what part RMC played with this Engine, right now I can only assume they just sized the piston to the cylinder and I would NOT claim RMC did any of the other work seen in the pics until I found out if RMC assembled the whole Engine, who knows maybe I will find numbers on the crank if they rebuilt it once its all the way out, that's not to say someone than RMC assembled the Engine.

Sorry, i wasn't implying they played a part in the whole Engine, just that my Engine is stamped in a few places, and the carb now after looking does have RMC on the boot.

I really should pay hoser one of these days http://www.pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6683

With the crank out I measure the side clearance for the rod and find .010 the service manual says .001 to .026

Their is a pretty deep groove in the crank where the seal rides I will have to offset the seal when I install so it will miss the old groove.

the piston to cylinder clearance measures .0038 its a little tight for a wiseco, I been told to set them at .0045

Their is a bunch of scratches on the cylinder wall no doubt damage from the last piston failure, I am only worried about the scratches above the exhaust port since that is where the rings seal, their is only 2 scratches you can even feel with the finger nail, I will hone the cylinder out to .0045 and see if they go away.
