Engine Mount Restoration by hoser..

Here is some Engine mounts from a Pilot that are worn, Honda no longer makes these Engine mounts, the Pilot also uses these same mounts on the transmission.

First you want to wash them really well with carb cleaner then really good with HOT soapy water then dry them completely.

Once dry I take some of the black gasket maker silicone and fill in the low areas with silicone, don't over do it.

Once they have fully cured usually about 24 hours then you try to fit them into the holes they live in, you want a medium fit, NOT TIGHT not loose its a select fit thing, if they are too tight you simply shave a little silicone off with a razor blade and try it again.

The first time I tried this was in I think 1999, works great.

If you get them too tight you feel more Engine vibration.

The first time I tried this I put silicone on the Engine mount and put the mount in the Engine mounts, after 24 hours the silicone was just as wet as when I first applied it, seems it created a air tight environment like when the silicone is in the tube and it wont dry, 24 hrs wasted lesson learned

I have never shared this with you before because the new Engine mounts were still available and their is alot of room for error (too lose and too tight) and I know most are not willing to pull their Engine again to adjust them because its too tight or too loose, now they are discontinued I am sharing it with you because you have no choice.

Reconditioned they last a long time at least between Engine bottom end rebuilds, you can touch them up easily enough.

Have a better idea lets hear it, time to perfect this problem again since Honda is no longer selling them.

Service Honda, Bike Bandit, and 2 other sites still list the larger of the 2 mounts as available,Bike Bandit they list for 19.80 each,Service Honda lists them for 16.02 each, all of the sites do list the smaller of the 2 mounts as discontinued.I ordered 20 of the larger mounts that slides into the cases/trans so I will let you know if they come back as discontinued.
